Hi
Wonder if anyone can help?
Recently been doing a bit of NPC pirate bashing but on more than one occasion have found missile launchers to be unresponsive ie.'standard missile launcher: no suitable targets in range'.
I generally use FoF heavies or 'lights'...no probs with power etc and indeed missiles might have been launching Ok just a few secs earlier. Target ships all within range of missiles..no obstacles like astroids..etc..etc..why then does this message pop up at the most fraught moments??
Also defenders sometimes will only launch if a missile is just about to splat me but will not launch before...is this a bug?
Any help appreciated...as I hate these unpredictable adrenaline surges...the probs always happen when I need the missiles most!

FOF will only work if a target is actively attacking your ship, otherwise they will fail to launch.
I haven't used defenders in a long time so I have no idea, they are generally buggy at best.

FOF's are as Jim said, defenders seem to stop firing if there are no missiles to target, even though you may still have some left in your launcher and it's on autorepeat. Keep your eye on it if there are no missiles coming towards you and reactivate if needs be.

I use defender as a missile defence and I can usually leave it on autorepeat and they take out a lot of missiles although not all. I usually hunt guristas and they dish out a lot of missiles so the defenders always have something to target.

I have been playing EVE for over 4 months and have never gotten FOF to work, even when RATS are 10k out pounding on me. I use Trops, and Cruise because FOF are are inop. Post a support question with CCP, maybe they will respond if we get enough sent in.

Thanks for the responses.
FoF do seem to give up every so often even if enemy rats are continuing to shooting or missile spam.
As for the Defenders....they don't really seem to like to appear unless a Gurista missile is literally about to hit me...and of course by then it's too late for them to do anything useful!

if im killing npcs i just let the missles hit (normaly thunderbolts).
use a good shield booster and make sure your dealing more damage than the rat
