Hi,
I think the proposed changes to the Deimos would make it too similar to the Phobos (just use the extra midslot for a warp disruptor instead of the warp generation field). So it would be almost exaclty the same without the role specific ability of the Phobos ... so why would I fly a Deimos if the Phobos can still tank better and hold the target whit just a minor reduction in dps?
Any thoughts? On the proposed Deimos changes that is ...

Minor reduction in DPS? A phobos is never going to get near the 700+ DPS a deimos can push out.

that is only available in full gank, no-tank mode.
you will find an ion deimos with tank having less DPS than 700+

No, its not. However, if the Deimos change goes through, it will lose damage (or a huge chunk of tank, on this "pro-tank" change) to one less low slot, and having to spend huge amounts of grid on an injector and 1-2 reps, you have to downgrade often all the way to electrons from neutrons. This reduces the phobos/deimos DPS gap immensely, if you attempt to fit it to use its new bonus and midslot. If you dont, and try and fit it as an "old" deimos -you've still lost cap, and either HP or damage, so you're still gimped. THe op is wrong with "minor reduction in DPS", but if he'd said "acceptable reduction in dps"... he'd be dead right. The new Deimos will be a sad half-phobos.

The Deimos change may no longer be. AFAIK, the old 6/3/6 Deimos is back on singularity and the devs are retracting the change. ( I might be wrong on this ).
That said, with the proposed 6/4/5 change the Phobos would have 1 more low than the Deimos. Assuming all other equipment is identical ( for example something like 5 ions, mwd, cap booster, web scram , 4 slot tank ) - the Phobos will have the opportunity to fit an extra MFS over the Deimos. I completely agree with the OP the difference in DPS between the Phobos and Deimos will be trivial.
Differences between the Phobos and Deimos with the proposed changes:
Phobos +1 low ( use it for an extra MFS and you should be able to match the dps of a similarly equipped Deimos ).
Phobos has a resistance bonus which is just plain better than the rep bonus on the Deimos ( IMO )
Phobos gets a Warp Bubble which frees up a mid slot and is infinitely better than a scram.
With the changes I see no reason to fly a Deimos if I can fly a Phobos instead, it's just better all around.

meh, ill always lvoe my glass cannon, flying them is one fo the few things that gives me an adrenaline kick in pvp anymore
