It seems an awful lot has been said on the subject of PvP (whether piracy or just blwing stuff up for the hell of it).
One of the main reasons I play Eve is because of the non-contrived nature that PvP (as opposed to PvE) games offer. That's not to say I actively indulge in it - quite the opposite; it scares the crap out of me and each time it has happened so far I've lost my ship.
It strikes me that the people who wish to attack others are getting a bit of a raw deal - safespots, insta-jump bookmarks, etc. Now these seem like a bit of an exploit to me.
I would imagine that the person who came up with bookmarks intended them to be used on objects in space so you could return to that lucrative asteroid or point of interest. In fact, early versions only allowed you to bookmark an object (introducing the can-jettison work around).

Why not do away with deep space bookmarks? Only allow a bookmark to be attributed to an object in space. And not all objects (no non-anchored cans for example). A bookmark would work exactly as it does now but it would be relative to the location that you warped to initially (around a planet, an asteroid belt, etc.).
Warping to your new bookmark would warp you to the place it was relative to before pointing your ship in the direction of the bookmark itself. If the object that the bookmark was attached to no longer exists, the bookmark vanishes.
Any increase in travel time could be countered by small increases to the basic speeds of the larger ships. In addition, anchored objects should show up on the scanner and enable players to warp to them.
Just a thought.

I agree, to some degree....in-system (ei something withing scanner range from a celestrial object) safespots are ok i think.
Just make bookmarking of anything within 60 km of a station and gate unbookmarkable and make outsystem safespot done....main problem solved.
I can see the argument for removing safespots totally. But i think maybe we should be careful about changing too fast.

The problem with making gates un-bookmarkable (new word?) or the old idea of putting a 20km bubble around the gate where nothing can warp into, is that it puts almost every pilot warping into the same area every time. It's a big plus for camping the gate, but if you try to remove the camping party your tactics are narrowed down to using over-whelming(sp?) force.
With bookmarks you can bring your forces into different areas of the gate and possibly catch the campers off guard.

Couldn't that be solved with more additions to the range categories of the 'Warp to' function? ------------------------------------------------------------ Bulk Paint Lost In Space |

Introduce a 20km random circle around the bookmark.
No more instabookmarks. But the safespots persists.
Introduce Area of effect warpscramblers, webbifiers
People get caught jumping in system instead of jumping out
Introduce finding people in space No more safespot hiding * -"You know, we play the "good guys" right? We kill pirates, griefers, retards and general subversive elements in the EVE-Community. To the rest, we are friendly and always prepared to help out. Peo |

Not really, more ranges would just do that, make you come in further out. Most gates (there are exceptions) are only closed off on one side. I mean there's no planets, moons or belts to come in from. The bookmarks ultimately give you a choice of where you come in at that just adding ranges wouldn't give you.

Why not open a special station inside Impire space where all non pirates can deliver all belongings and of cuz get a shuttle in return, that way Pirates dont have to do anything, and can continues with the lazynes?
it seems to me that everytime a pirate has to work to find prey, they want it made easyer and easyer. learn to use ur scanners and go hunt where ur supposed to and no its not in New caldari or yulai.
I would also like it changed so pirates only have small outdated ships, cuz no impire sells ships to pirates, so if u want a Apoc u have to steal it somewhere, same goes with stations, no pirate can dock anywhere there is Law, they have to be confined to piratestations deep deep inside 0.0
Remove local channel and reduce scanner range to a few AU's EVE would be more realistic.
No im not a carebear, just tired of reading the same discutions over and over again

And get rid of 'number of pilots in space' from the map.
People will have less idea when a gate they are jumping through is camped helping the priates, but also 0.0 space would be very much more accessable. Factions would have to patrol the space they lay claim to rather than just camping the map. ----------------------------------- A gun and a packet of sandwiches.

i like this idea could make alliances wars more interesting without knowing numbers so well., but id also like to see warp to bookmark rng's changed, so there are some 75/100/125/150/175km from bookmark introduced atm if you set up for long eng cbt ur screw'd warp to 60km where you are like 50km of ur optimal rng :(. And introduce the 20km no warp into gate surroundings. but would need to be ur cant drop out of warp inside 20km but can warp through it. just my 2 cents Nyuusen Ceo The Triad Alliance |
