My personal view of the situation is as follows:
The minmatar and gallante are getting seriously ****ed off with the khanid. I foresee an inevitable war. Whether the amarr will be involved is dubius as they hold no real love for the khanid though they may get enter the scene to "reclaim" old territories. This will propably cause security fall and closure of some jumpgates.
Whether or not the caldari are involved with the latest massacre is under question. However if it should become clear they are I'm sure the gallante wont hesitate to retaliate. Again this will propably cause security ratings to go down between empires and closure of some highway systems.
The Jove are likely to stay neutral. They seem to be working towards keeping the peace as long as possible but with the current rate its going to be inevitable. If they DO get involved my bet is they will side with the Minmatar.
I hope it will happen soon, though propably not before shiva.

No offense but because you don't get it doesn't mean they don't matter. It just means you might not have gotten it yet.

I didn't even know where it was but that's no surprise - I pay little attention to ingame news.
Where's the Caldari/Gallente championship!?

Dunno - I've read the pertinent stories but how anyone could find a specific system for the event from it is anyones guess.
The only indication was it was "in the Gallente Federation".

Nothing really. Don't get involved in EVE's storyline unless you or your corp want to get f**ked over. It's a massive anti-climax, and any event usually rewards the opportunist as opposed to anyone that put any time and effort into helping it along.
The best content this game has is provided by the players. Any glimpse of EVE's "true" story arc has revealed it to be entirely predictable and superficial.
Don't be spoon-fed. |

Edited by: Aurik Ulanti on 01/04/2004 17:30:10 Well my friends, I was at the show and my disgust over the massacre is total. Whoever made this happen must pay severly, they destroyed an entire station full with civilians and many gallente top actors. President Souro Foiritan himself promised that justice will be done and as a Federation citizen I trust his words. Warmongering will do us no good in these dark days and it saddens me that so many wish to fight. War is still fresh in our memory, all races have been in one and suffered greatly from it. I have no wish for it to happen to anyone again. Rather we should focus on human rights and freedom of the individual! As Intaki I'm very concerned about our integration into the federation, it is rather flawed. Let us all focus on making the galaxy a free, enlightened, equal and peaceful place to live in!

The story means quite a lot I think, I have been very impressed by this latest plotline (and others currently in the news). Of course we had some advantage of knowing the location in advance since Jericho Fraction was asked to provide some frigate wing security for the screening by Quafe execs, but we did publicise the party pretty widely and asked a number of Eve celebrities and corporations to attend to ensure it was open to whoever was interested. It was always our intention to make it a well attended and highly atmospheric happenstance and we even invited ideological enemies and known IC ranters to make it go with a bang...
There was also an open invite to the regulars of "la maison" channel (which is an IC moderated open chat and politics channel). If you want to get involved with these things the best advice is just ask around and be direct. Quite few people who were very new to the game got involved in last nights event simply by popping into "la maison" and asking! And I think they got a treat, what with fleet battles, starlets, gallente culture, luxury space yachts, a spec ops frigate, an exploding pleasure station, fire nebula, high politics and an appearence from the Federation president to round it off. What a fabulous introduction to Eve for those guys...
On the whole, I was very impressed by the polaris actors, the event direction and the relevence to corporate ethics and cultural conflict. This plotline has *a lot* to do with our characters and feels very real and interactive. It was interesting, had some suprises and certainly proved extremely profitable for some. Even the lag was playable and I had a laugh flying through the middle of 80 fighting ships in my Crow interceptor dive bombing the UDI mercs with cruise missiles. Excellent stuff!
Top marks CCP!

There was an event? I guess there won't be any real events until Eve can handle real fleets with 100+ ships. All this events are taking place with a selected group of ppl and probably in empire space.

Would it not be wise to at least indicate in the news that players were involved in the event itself? As it stands unless you go to eve-guardian the official news gives no indication that it has anything to do with anyone and only those that were there would get any satisfaction from seeing it.

It's nice for the new players to see the Event, I guess.
I would've enjoyed going though.

An event? Hardly. Not that I was there to witness anything what with the flow of information like molasses at 4 in the morning two days after New Years. But wasn't the news something like:
"Trans-galactic pr.0n hacks wiped out in purty fireworks display - Talent of clones in question"
I swear if I have to labor through one more ponderous treatise on cinematography play-acting as a news item, I just might blow up something myself. |

These mean men hurt these movie people flying along in their ships and this might mean there will be more hurting in the future, 'cause now the friends of the people who got hurt are angry and want to hurt the mean men back. Now this is wrong children, hurting is wrong m'kay, don't be hurting m'kay... M'kay!
Btw, where is that Curse information minister when you need him? There are no events.
Unless I see some actual clips rolling of these events on the largely useless billboards I'm making a note and filing it under T.

Most corps are multi-racial and have been for a very long time. CCP is gonna have to do something very drastic to break up these established relationships and get us fighting each other.
I doubt they'd force through such a change in the game dynamics because the risk of terminal upset to a significant proportion of the playerbase is too great. Therefore, further events and political posturings are far more likely than an all out inter-racial war.
BUT I guess if EVE gets too stale, or (dare we think it) folds some time in the future, the storyline will set up one hell of a last blast party!

So race war is the only option? Man the US must be racially pure beyond even a slighest deviant DNA spot then considering how often they're at war...
Outside the box, outside!!
