Quote: ok removing guns is realy essential (dont start flaming quite yet). ive spent all day running around Khanid hitting miners and NPC hunters. Took out a mega, 5 thoraxes and a stabber, and ransomed another thorax and an armageddon. Now, i could have DOUBLED that if i could catch people that insta-warped away from the belt to the station. I mean whats the point... They can shoot me, but i can't shoot them :\ Wats the point of having 15km docking strip or jump strip if i can't warp after them and web them. I want real chases not this vanilla crap...
Let's see... in one day you killed a mega (5-20+ mil in gear), 5 thoraxes (1-5 mil in gear each), and a stabber (MAYBE the loot paid your ammo costs ). You also ransomed a Thorax (probably for a couple mil or more) and a Geddon (10 mil? 20?)... so even if you had bad luck on the loot you had to have made close to 20 million ISK easy. In one day. In Empire space.
Guess what... THAT'S GOOD MONEY! If I could make half that in Empire space I would be THRILLED! But even with a battleship I can only make about 2 mil an hour, and then only by mining... which means about 4-5 mil MAX in a day before I'm so sick of mining I go play Warcraft. Or else 4 hours of agent missions at 1 mil an hour or so. Or a couple hours hunting NPCs at 1 mil or less an hour even if I DO get something I can sell as loot.
Sounds to me like you just confirmed piracy in low security Empire space pays better than anything except maybe mining all day, and since mining all day ISN'T FUN and this is supposed to be a GAME, mining SHOULD pay the best!

You know, pirates want more sheep to kill, and they love to pvp. Most of them really don't consider or care who they hurt as no one is hurting them in return. In games I have played that have universal pvp, like shadowbane and the initail time with UO the PKers wear each other out with their unending viciuosness. People quit subcribing to the games. Then the games learned that PvP has to be a minority affair, since only a minority desire it.
Eve is on a lesser scale is making the same mistakes as UO at its opening. The Devs are forcing more and more sheep into PvP as the primary way to create "content". Being killed sets you back and gives you more to work for. However I sometimes wonder if the devs are doing less than they should be. Isn't Eve supposed to be for everyone? Does it seem like the Devs turn more and more to feeding the masses to PvPers for content? Does Eve really create a fufilling game experince for non-fighters? Or is Eves non-fighting experience of building and trade only workable for the first few months of development? People like negotiator certainly have every right to play as fighters but sometimes I wonder if pirates have any respect for players as anything but prey. Does Eve still provide a fulling game experience for non-pvpers? Is it even the intent of the game to proved a equvialant chance of sucess for high organization and hard work in empire space as it does for PvP organization in deep space? It seems to me that Eve makes a strong statemtent, you can do OK in empire space but REAL eve players are PvPers. What do you think?

People are LAZY.
The most direct route may have a chokepoint, but their is almost ALWAYS a way in if you put the effort in.
True, very true, esp. if u have a fleet of 10 BS with you.
And also true if u want to go F.ex. to Curse Territory and have 3 choices. Molden heath (chokepoint), Catch (chokepoint) and Vale of the silent ( yes i've made that route too, and of couse there is a chokepoint too )
Also got ganked and lost millions in implants. Btw have an alt around. Without implants of course.
But who cares (ppl is lazy. I'm minning in a 0.5 system without stations and still alone here )

How about not scaring the **** out of all the n00bs entering the game. Almost every new person i've ran into is scared to death of anything below 0.5.

Removing pilots in space from 0.0 would probably help non-alliance people survive a bit longer, especialy if they are trying to mine, as the local alliance will actualy have to scout to find and kill them.
Also some R&D type thing outside empire space would make a diiference, the only things holding me to empire space are R&D, and the extream easy with which the alliace people can locate outsiders in their regions.

What a bunch of fvcking bullsh1t.
People who dont want to PVP should NOT be playing god damn massive multiplayer online games.
Doesnt make any sence if they want to communicate with other people but yet still be at no risk from others.
MMO are made to offer PVP, in non online games you dont have PVP, thats why carebears play them. Spawn of the Devil

Give 2 people the ability to communicate and regardless of the methods of communication there'll be pvp.

Edited by: XpoHoc on 03/04/2004 15:12:34 I love it when ppl start talking about how it's like being a pirate without having a clue about it. I think I should start a thread about mining.

Amen...Preach the word.:).
I feel much the same way, with personal esperience backing it up,since i've lost 4 BS's so in 0.0 space, either by NPC's(Ramdon close range ship spawns, usually BS spawns),or PC pirates(classic ship ganking at gates),so it kinda gets old having the restart work all over again to get replacement BS's,even if i can replace them relatively easily,as i wouldn't go into 0.0 in the first place if that wasn't the case, instead of concentrating those efforts into more productive ventures, once the BS question is out of the way...
The other issue is how much money is actually enough, since CCP releases content so slowly, that unless you're a very active PvPer or a corp or aliance involved in a major conflict, there's no need to make money anywhere near as fast as you can in 0.0 in the first place,in order to replace their ships and gear ASAP,which happends to everyone,no matter who they are...
