Alliance wars:
Massive fleets Massive time sink Massive lag Modules dont respond Weapons dont respond Tactics dont work (desyncs, disconnects, simple lag) Ships are lost before screens even load (not to mention the 1-3fps when they do)
Smaller Scale (0.0) PvP
Smaller Fleets Smaller Timesink Smaller Lag Modules work Weapons work Tactics work Ships are lost if you make a mistake (or your scout does)
I don't think this is anything that hasn't been said before, but big alliance fleet ops just aren't any fun and are often a massive waste of time for everyone involved.
I really think CCP need to do something here. Client / network optimizations don't seem to be having any effect so perhaps theres only one option left - rework the game mechanics so that smaller fleet engagements (20v20 for example) are massively favored over stuffing huge amounts of ships (and drones) into a single grid.
I can't be the only one who thinks this...?

This is already favoured, however alot of people dont give two ****s and rush to the front anyway. EVE: The Vivitari Story - A Blog by Nobody in EVE Online |

Well this could be addressed in a number of ways, changing the POS / Sovereignty system would be the first that comes to mind. |

Giving a malus to large gangs maybe? for example, decreasing in scan resolution, decreasing number of maximum targetted ships, etc. Just a quick idea, maybe it's dumb XD

Good input just a little against common sence. surely more ships would strengthen these things. EVE: The Vivitari Story - A Blog by Nobody in EVE Online |

Well, you can justify in some rp way. Large gang creating lot of "electronic" noise around disrupting their own sensor systems...or large gang makes your on board computer lag because it has too much data to process from gang ships... Something that way maybe.

Fleet fights are epic. Small fights are fun though.
But a lot of people in fleet blobs are there for pride and nothing else. I myself have empire alt who does small scale pvp stuff, and its a blast. And my main does the capital/fleet stuff - its also a blast.
0.0 is not for everone, and CCP has basically given us the finger. CCP are intrested in developing smaller stuff, via facitonal warfare etc, rather than support superblobs in 0.0. The sad fact is that 90% of people in fleet fights tend to be in useless ships for the job, therefore bring extra numbers to make up the difference rather than spend a proper amount of isk. Basically, these people play fleet battles for corp pride rather than their own fun. --

corp pride? useless ships? blame CCP? R u talking for your corp m8s? cause your not speaking for a vast majority of 0.0 inhabitants. Useless ships, are useless because of lag. MOAR numbers are necessary because so many disco, desynch, and die to nothing. Because sniping at 200km puts enough distance between you and the opposing fleet so that there is distance to cover and enough time to load grid and perhaps have a chance at warping out doesn't mean it should be like that.
way off base. Lots of people are complaining about desynch, lag, sh1tty game mechanics, and thats a good thing, not a bad thing. Until enough people motivate, organize, and do something about it, nothing will change and it will only get worse.... just shocking

You can ***** all you want about the Alliance Fleet Blob fest but until you come up with a workable solution to the underlining problem of territorial control and POS sovereignty which make this warfare type mandatory your just venting hot air.
