I'd like to direct you to here: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=475242&page=5#139
Been a very long time since we've heard anything on this matter. This is what has been desired for several years now -- GUI elements placed on multiple monitors, independent of the rendered world of eve.
Spanning across multiple monitors is currently not a viable solution, as it stretches the 'world view' such that non GUI elements are split.
The easiest solution I can see is to offer two resolution options in the graphics options dialog window. One to tell Eve the total resolution of the client (in most cases this will be the total area of all the monitors you wish to use), and another to tell Eve what resolution to render the non-GUI elements (space, your ship, etc) (along with a starting X-pixel position). It's kinda a hack, but it would offer the desired behavior. Obviously I have no idea how you've coded your game, so this may not even be possible -- but at least I'm trying.
I'd be perfectly happy if a Dev showed up and said "Shut up - we're working on it". Just give us a sign!

I have been asking for this since beta testing, so don't hold your breath. The biggest problem I can see with this is that EVE is built to be played fullscreen by default, and that leads to all sorts of problems.
In an ideal world we should have an iterface much like photoshop, with floating pallets and menus that can be placed outside of the main photoshop window, on any monitor, real or virtual, that you like.
One way I have been thinking of doing this with the game in full-screen mode is much like how counterstrike source lets your shift-tab between windows while in full screen mode, this sort of method could be implimented into the full screen client.
This feature would bring EVE's interface up to date and maybe stop it looking like it was made 5 or 6 years ago. The 'trinity gui update'.....

All time / combat critical GUI components are still on the primary screen. If you PVP combat isn't really made easier with multiple monitor support.
If you still think saving a few seconds in bringing up a new window is an advantage, well I don't really know what to respond with.

Same reason you get an advantage if you can (or want) to pay for two accounts, or if you have a programmable mouse or keyboard.

lol. What about the people with cutting edge hardware and a single 30" LCD? I'm pretty certain that they'd have an "edge" over someone running legacy hardware pushing 15fps to a 17" CRT.
Second hand screens can be had quite cheaply, particularly CRT if you're hard pressed for cash, but LCD are reasonably well priced. But I wouldn't rush out and buy one unless you have a practical purpose in mind because most programs, and in particular most games, have fairly dismal support for more than one screen.
