Hi, everyone.
I just started playing this game about a week ago, and so far it's sort of complicated, but I think I'm getting the hang of it... I can use maps and autopilot now, at least.
I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for velator setups. I just made about 200 million doing a mission for my corp and was wondering if that would get me anything decent.
Thanks!

You can get a pretty sweet Velator.
[Velator, PVP] Micro 'Vigor' I Core Augmentation
Gistii A-Type 1MN MicroWarpdrive
75mm Gatling Rail II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S 75mm Gatling Rail II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S
Hybrid Burst Aerator I Polycarbon Engine Housing I Polycarbon Engine Housing I
Hobgoblin II x2
Since the Velator gets a damage bonus, this setup here gives you 99 DPS at close range. Exploit that 5% damage bonus, and throw on the ROF rig to chug out an extra 10 DPS. Very good for close combat skirmishes. You could solo other noobships before they even had time to warp.
The Gistii 1MN MicroWarpdrive is nice because you can bump your target if he starts aligning for warp, which is great because you don't have a scram. You can switch up to Spike at long range, but it cuts your damage in half.
I'm sure some idiot pilot will come chasing after a 2800m/s Velator, so you have to be properly fitted to take on all types of pilots. This is a versatile Velator, I hope you enjoy it.
(note: CCP needs to add calibration to noobships.) _________________ Burn.

Nano-ships are the current flavour of the month and essentially an 'I win' setup.
Polycarbon engine housing II's reduce your mass alot meaning that you get a bigger boost from Micro Warp Drives and Afterburners, also include some overdrives and bulkhead mods in your lows.
Get as many of them (poly carbon II's) as possible on it and set orbit range to just outside web range (10km) and use a 20km disruptor, then unleash your drones, if you can use Amarr ones, they do the best shield damage.

i think you should buy some of my shares of stock. it comes in beef or chicken flavor. 1 12 oz can will cost you 100 mil.
now, you may be asking... what am i supposed to do with your stock? that's an EXCELLENT question. you can drink it, boil it and add veggies for soup, or you can throw it at someone's head! if you're feeling really giving, you can pay an extra 10 mil and then just give the soup to a homeless person... whether you hand it to them or throw it at them would be up to you though.
btw, im also selling souls. i don't know whose it is... but it's for sale. let me know.
if you're looking for a better way to spend your money, then im not the person to ask, i am, after all, the guy who trashes ravens like they're ibis's.
p.s. just kidding about the raven. p.s.s. not really

I mean tbh the velator is a overrated ship i think its all about a nano reaper to be completely honest. while its true the velator has a preety drone bay it lacks the grid for the awsoem firepower of otherships. i mean my prefered setup is a reaper with 125mm II's with hail. Also for pos takedowns a reaper with a 280mmII qith quake just can't be outdone. With your new wallet i think you can possibly stretch you waller to a reaper and i would recommend you cross train to minmatar as with the limited cap of the rookie ship it can be difficult to acheiev a desired level of damage without compkletely comprimising yourself. OK but here is a sniping velator (comes in handy on those pos takedowns). There is nothing like feeling of killing someone's capital ship while its unmanned. OK so here goes.
125mm II railgun with spike 75mm II railgun with spike
sensor booster II Range script.
cap power relay II
Teh pos killa rawr also useful for sniping from range at gates. in lowsec perhaps you can kill things at range at gates. mega tanking sentries definatly kill it if the pilot is incapable enough.
Inch by inch play by play till we're finished. We are in hell right now, gentlemen |

Unless your Corp intends to permently finance your exploits you need to think about how you can safely earn enough ISK to keep you supplied with your PvP ships.
I suggest holding out 100 million to skill up and fit a Battle Cruiser as a Mission Runner for level 3 missions.
That way you won't have to deviate with your combat pilot training in order to have a regular job when you need one.
It will also be able to pack a respectable punch with some staying power when your ganged with your Corp Mates if you ever find yourself in any major engagements.

because you say that you are a n00b I am going to assume you cant use t2 mods, so here is the setup.
highslots 2x modal light electron blaster w/anitmatter
midslot civilian shield booster / civilian afterburner (if you want more speed)
lowslot civilian armor repairer
I favor blasters in this setup because they take full advantage of the +5% per lvl damage bonus. Unfortunately they take up almost all of the available grid. ON the other hand, civi mods use very little cap, so as long as you avoid taking too much damage at once you have a fairly stable tank. If you can you can try to fit a small acomodation vestment reconstructor in the lowslot and then a Eutectic I capacitor charge array in the highslot. You will be able to rep your armor much faster that way. Consider yourself lucky, n00b, the Velator is the only rookie ship w/damage bonuses AND a 10 m3 drone bay, making the Velator easily the best ship in the Gallente fleet (post drone nerf).
