I heard Sisters of EVE are different from the other NPC corps. Something about standings.
Any info about them ?> What makes them different ?

Edited by: syphurous on 17/02/2008 22:47:12 They ae their own faction. The have a nice LP store. The are mostly in lowsec. Hard as hell to grind for the lvl4 high sec agent. I'm only about .5 faction short myself though :)

Not so hard, just do missions for Gallente and you'll get SoE standing quick.

I'm guessing you're referring to some common misinformation about them, which says that they're positive to all Empire factions--so you could do Storylines with them, and get standings gains (or at least no standings hits) to all four main factions.
However it hasn't been true for a long time, if it ever was. They're positive to Minni and Gall, and negative to Caldari and Amarr, and SoE Storylines will have the appropriate effect in all cases.
The main real thing that's exceptional about them now is a truly worthwhile and relatively easy to get module in their LP store: the Sisters Scan Probe Launcher. * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

hehe - yeah... doing missions only for gallente (with occasional minmatar, but they're rare enough that i won't really count them), and i almost have SOE faction standing to 7, whereas my gallente faction standing is around 5.7... now there has got to be something wrong with that

When you have a small faction that is very friendly to a large one such as the sisters to gal then you will actually gain more standing with the small faction when completing a storyline for the large one. It works the same with ammatar for amarr and mordus for caldari, etc.

While this is true, the way I understand derived standings is that you will never drop below the level of "dislike" that a faction has for whomever you are working for.
So with high Diplomacy you will basically remain positive to the four empires no matter how much you work for the Sisters. As long as you don't kill faction ships, that is.

Not really, there is a size multipler, Gallente have a large territory so they give a proportionally larger increase when the derived standing is applied to a race with a smaller territory.

Only thing I noticed is that they are chicks, besides that doing storylines for them give standings to about three factions, nothing special about them except there are only a few lvl4 agents.

They are only NPC that have the sister probe launchers and the virtue implant set in the LP store.

Interesting point... Does this mean that if you run missions for (ex. SOE) the smaller corp, you would gain the same faction standing for that corp as you would for a larger faction, and therefore even less for that larger faction?
Ex. (in case what i wrote above made no sense)
Run missions for gallente storyline mission gains 10% for gallente faction storyline mission gains 12.5% for SOE
Run missions for SOE storyline mission gains 10% for SOE storyline mission gains 8% for gallente faction
(numbers randomly made up off the top of my head)

The Inter-faction Relationships Chart can show you the standings values for working with various factions. Derived standings only applies up to (or down to) the value shown on the Chart.
So working for SOE your Gallente standings will go up due to a 13.33% derived boost (i.e. your Gallente increase is 13.33% of the increase the mission gave to SOE standing), but those derived increases will never allow Gallente standing to go over 8. That same storyline will drop Amarr and Caldari some, but never below -1.00 and -0.25 respectively. Unless you kill Amarr and Caldari ships in missions, those standings losses are not capped.

yep. except it's probably more like this for the same mission ....
Run missions for gallente storyline mission gains 10% for gallente faction storyline mission gains 12.5% for SOE
Run missions for SOE storyline mission gains 12.5% for SOE storyline mission gains 10% for gallente faction
