Not sure if this is the right forum to post this in, but here goes:
A player I trust in game has recently made a corporation, and he wants me to help build it up with him. I am now to become Director of Mining. Currently I'm flying a mining barge, so I can bring in ore fairly fast.
My questions are: Do you have any tips on how to run the mining division of a corporation? I have very much previous experience coordinating and leading mining operations, so this is not an issue. What kind of goals should I be setting for the corporation?
Any tips would be appreciated. I've probably just babbled on randomly with completely off-topic questions, so just give me any tips relating to directing the mining division of a corp :]

- Set yourself small, realistic goals and work towards them. - Ensure regular ops, at a set time and place. Split them into mine for corp (100% of what is mined goes to corp) and mine for selves (split between participants) - Don't try to force people to do things. There is nothing more likely to kill morale than being forced to do something you don't want to. - Growing a new corp is hard and can be disheartening. Don't give up. Letting yourself get upset or worried, and then letting your guys know that, is also a morale killer. - Communicate and discuss. ----------------------- Covenant Alliance Industry FA Leader of the Covenant Alliance mining co-operative Chaos Coalition officer in charge of mining |

Tell all your miners where the minerals are going, and why they are mining. There is nothing worse than obligatory mining sessions where nobody knows what they are mining for. The way I used to run mining ops was to set a 2-3 hour timespan where people would know a tanked belt would be being mined. Each player then mined 2-3 jet cans full of the desired ore for the corp, which are all hauled by a corp hauler. After these 2,3 or 4 cans anything else mined is for the players personal wallet. This keep people turning up as they know they have someone tanking / gaurding, someone else hauling and all they need do is switch roids and drink beer.
