I'm an amarrfighter and I've got a Punisher.
Right now it's equipped like this - check my question below.
Hi slots:
Dual light beam laser I, radio crystal and multifreq
Dual light beam laser I, radio crystal and multifreq
Dual light beam laser I, radio crystal and multifreq
-empty-
Med slots:
1MN Afterburner I
1MN Afterburner I
Low slots:
Basic overdrive injector system
Basic overdrive injector system
Basic overdrive injector system
Basic overdrive injector system
Basically it's built for speed.
How would I go about to build it more for combat?
I'm talking NPC combat here so although I'd gladly hear pvptactics that's not my main goal right now.
Any input is appreciated :)

hi: some laser, dunno the frigate types
med: mwd and [cap battery or capicitor booster]
low: cap relays or power diags

cap battery of some kind
Afterburner or MWD
Low slots:
cap relay
cap relay
basic heat sink
another of any of the above if possible -OR- a coprocessor or a pg mod if needed
Don't know if all that will be possible at your skill level.

Fittings depends of course on your skills, but here is what I normally use:
3 x Medium Beam Laser 1
1 x Small Shield Booster
1 x Cap Recharger or 1 x AB
3 x Power Diagnostic System 1
1 x Heat Sink
Works nicely. If you can't fit 3 medium beams, then change one of them for a pulse laser or some other laser at your disposal.

I'm guessing you're pretty new since you are using afterburners for speed and not a microwarpdrive, so here's a good loadout that doesn't need high skills:
High Slots
1 medium beam laser, gamma and infrared crystals
2 dual light beam lasers, gamma and infrared crystals
Med Slots
1MN Afterburner
Small Shield Booster
Low Slots
Basic Heat Sink
Basic capacitor power relays,
Basic Power Diagnostics, or
Basic Coprocessors as needed
Infrared crystals do the same damage as radio but use less cap, and gamma does only 1 point less than multifreq, goes farther, and uses less cap. By using those crystals you'll cut your energy use a bit. As you train Engineering and Electronics skills and can fit better guns, switch one or both dual light beams to medium beams... but remember medium beams use a lot of cap so if you keep running out swap one back to a dual light.
