i would simply want to know other people's opinion on this.
considering max skills , witch ship would be prefered for general pvp usage and why?
i'm not talking about these ships in a 1 on 1 , i simply want to know what each ship has going for it and witch one comes out on top.

I would have to say 1v1, abaddon due to the em damage. I would prefer abaddon, that ship is just awesome when setup right, although maelstrom is far from laughable.

maelstrom: can get 1000dps with hail, 7-800 out to about 50km with ambit extension rigs and barrage, can have a mean active tank (800dps without crystal set or faction mods) no cap need for guns so can keep shooting until it runs out of ammo/jammed/dead.
cons: small hp buffer, sacrifices tank for ewar/MWD
abaddon: can get 1000dps to 15km with amarr navy MF or conflagration, and 800 out to 60km with scorch, has a very solid passive tank with plates/trimarks.
cons: high cap need for guns so is very dependant on injector, MWD hurts its cap more so than most amarr ships due to its lack of cap use bonus.
Overall I would say abaddon is slightly better, as you always have the option of running AC with a mwd and plate or active tank, or flying the golden brick spewing light everywhere.
hows that for ya? ;)

When in doubt, allways choose minmatar.
Maelstrom is a rocksolid tanker with 8 turret slots, equals a mean PvP machine. Train skillz up to fully T2 fit this baby and it will rarely let you down.
Downside with this, just as all minmatar ships, its wery skill intensive, just the gunnery skillz alone is bleh ~~
Originally by: Sean Faust The Typhoon is an oddity. It is EXTREMELY versatile and can be fit just about any way you can imagine.

I love my Maelstrom. But as has been said, for it to rock really needs T2 guns and BS to 5. Hits like a train with a good tank(not awesome, but good).
Not having flown an Abbadon I am not really able to comment, but I have seen them in action and are a good, mean ship if flown with the correct set up and skills to back it. -----------------------------------------------

Just curious here - never flew any minmatar ships - but why would the maelstrom take a bigger investment in gunnery than the abaddon?

i actaully dont agree with this, when comparing RACES, matar have a heavy SP investment, cause of the mix of Sheild and Armor tanking skills, that makes them SP intensive from ship to ship, but when compaing individual ships, i really dont think you can say they have the shaft end of the stick.
especially when compared to a laser toating Abaddon, cause they really are skill intensive due to fitting requirements (not great on the meal ether but no worse than the abaddon)..

Not a big difference between the two. Both are gank and tank gunboats with good range.
