The steps posted to solve this message won't work, there are not CCP files under application data and I changed the shortcut to lower case. Still won't let me login.

I tried deleting and re-installing, that doesnt work either. Ofcourse I don't see why we should be the ones that have to 'fix' it. We pay for this game, therefore the programmers should be the ones fixing the problem, not the people that pay them!

Fix for Incompatible (Protocol) per the dev's is to delete your CCP folder contents????
That is the stupidest workaround. Unfortunately, I tried it and I still have the issue. Get bent, CCP!!

If you are getting the error "Incompatible (Protocol)" when trying to connect to Tranquility post Trinity 1.0.2 patch, it is because of this previous patch. To alleviate the problem you need to do one of the following:
1. Go into the following directory, and delete the contents: XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\CCP Vista: C:\ProgramData\CCP Mac: /Users//Library/Preferences/EVE Online Preferences/p_drive/All Users/Application Data/CCP Linux: /.cedega/EVE Online/c_drive/Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Data 2. If you using a shortcut to launch Eve, you can simply change the case of the link, for example change C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE to C:\program files\ccp\eve
Please note that you will have the option "Show hidden folders" on to find some of the folders posted above!
I tried option 2 first. It didn't work. I then tried option 1 and it worked for me. I am now in the game. \o/ (I have Xp)

I am writing from Australia and it wont let us even access the information for this fix on the website and we have tried multiple machines and browsers. There always seems to be issues with the website as well not diplaying information with a "Page cannot be displayed" message.
And I agree with you guys, we pay the money for this game and they should fix it. They also offer no telephone support and their petition process takes as much as 4 days or more. So what are we supposed to do? Lose 5 days of PAID playing time cos we cant access the information to fix the problem in the first place?
And by the sounds of you guys, the fix doesnt work anyway. Could some one paste the info for this fix in this thread please. At least the forums still working.

I hav ethe Icompatible (Protocol) problem, doidn't have it prior to patch. Please roll back to previous version fix the patch and try again.
I may not have the knowledge to go messing about in other areas of the software etc,
I'm sorry CCP but this is a problem that you need to resolve not your paying customers.
