You really, really want to think this is a fake somehow but reading around a bit apparently this is a fully functional Hello Kitty Assault Rifle.
Well, at least my interest in Hello Kitty went up a notch with this now that gun ownage is a part to cut some of its sickening sweetness.

Am I the only one who took one look at the thing and thought "that grip looks horrendously uncomfortable".

Judging by the comments, ergonomic grips are banned in some places.
I wish they would ban ergonomic seats instead.

Ahh...he's got it. Seems positively ******** to legislate the grip but not the gun  but from the link:

They could sell them to Code Pink and other nut jobs! I mean they aren't black evil bad rifles anymore like the 10-22 or other manly assault rifles (sarcasm). 
Seriously though, that is a horrible grip. Even in the picture where he is firing it looks damn uncomfortable. And his regular full grip AR-15 is sitting on the bench next to him.

A pistol grip on a rifle turns it into an "assault" weapon here in commufornia. What they did is called using a loophole in the legal systems. Saw a guy use this on an AK, he used 30 round magazines which were ejected by an allen wrench he secured to the magazine release using another loophole so he could still do fast mag changes
