My gf wanted to see this movie, so I took her to see it tonight. It is made of pure fail. I thought it would be cool because it had the guy from Superbad in it, but no. Pure Fail. The only bit of comedy is the girl's smartass comments she makes throughout.

It's made of pure fail because it isn't funny enough? Maybe you were just expecting an entirely different movie than what you got. If you were expecting Superbad 2 no wonder you were dissapointed.

I watched Superbad not expecting much and I was still disappointed.
Juno OTOH I was pleasantly surprised by. Terrific script. My only gripe was it was it all felt a bit too clever and calculated, like a Quentin Tarantino movie where everyone talks in this really mannered way but since it was funny I forgive them. After the first 20 minutes or so I was expecting to despise it by the end but I ended up really liking it.

Huh? That was a good film, sharp script, well acted, twist at the end.
It wasn't belly laughs all the way through, no, but had some funny parts and was engaging.

Did you guys know that Juno was based off a korean movie? The guy in the movie's name is Juno. It's pretty interesting actually. Although they do have a slightly different take on things.

holy hell I forgot about this thread...no I wasn't expecting superbad 2, but I sure wasn't expecting a lifetime movie with the only claim to any kind of comedy being a smart ass 16 year old girl. No, my night didn't go as planned, the food we ate from the hibachi grill place right before the movie made me incredibly sick within a couple hours, so my night sucked after that.(at least the food tasted good) If I hadn't gotten sick, my night would have been great, aside from the movie.

To be honest it seems like a 90 minute movie about 20 minutes worth of story. Most movies like this do.

It's a decent movie with an adorable female lead character.
It is rather shallow though - it could have tackled the problem of teen pregnancy a lot more realistically, instead it was made to have the girl spout oneliners and be just "meh".

eh I liked it, but it seems to me that many are over hyping it.
the only thing that makes it a "deep" movie is that it seems popular culture has lost all sense of personal responsibility.

i liked it. but then again, i do like drama, i saw the movie because the girl was in it, her performance in hard candy was just way to good, and i loved the film. no one told you it was a comedy or anything. i just think you didn't get what you expected.

Bleh. I got dragged into it. Everyone was raving how great it was, how "inspired" it was. Hardly the case. It ended up being shallow and boring. Worth a chuckle or two, but little more. On another note, my popcorn was soggy too.
