I think 40,000 is just the record of people simultaneously online...
The actual number of subscribed accounts is much larger if I'm not mistaken, either way they are trying their best and I like this game too much to stop subscribing...
Maybe I'm just patient

Well, at least they could afford to allow 1337 names with alternating lower- and uppercase letters. So, all should be good, no?

Originally I was wondering why your post was devoid of capital letters, but on closer observation I've come to realize that you must have used all of them up in the title.

Perhaps if they refund you, you can use that money to buy an OS for your PC that has spellcheck installed?

so when you do your carpenting, you never ever do it wrong? But if you did, you would come back, and fix it right? In that time, your customers are not allowed to walk on the floor => They payed for a floor they aren't getting. Please go back to carpenting, thank you. Disallowed sig graphic. So MS breaks windows updates, the Xbox, Sony has evil DRM schemes, laptop batteries explode, the FBI has big databases on you, Facebook is guilty of keeping your personal data, Eve employees are incompetent. Maye you should just go offline completely, build a house (but don't floor it!) without doors and windows, don't pay anything and never come out again...then you're free from all the bad, incompetent people everywhere.
Because you're brilliant, and all the other people are insane offcourse...

Does paying road taxes guarantee that at any time you can drive on any public road? No. Sometimes roads need to be maintained. The road gets shut while it is maintained. Usually the state does its best to shut the road down during the time that it is least traveled (in EVE that is when America is fast asleep and most of Europe is at work), but they can never assure that there aren't at least SOME people who will be inconvenienced by the maintenance (DT tends to fall around prime time down under). Does this require the state to compensate those few night shift workers who have to take a detour? Nope. They did what they could to minimize the inconvenience. That is as far as they are required to go. Anything more would either be unreasonable or effectively mean that the road could never be maintained.

You can throw as many dollars as you wish after whoever you wish, but no one can predict the future. And have you ever gotten anything right the first time? Did you just stand up and walk? Could you speak fluently the moment you were born? I didn't...

That's the thing I like about the forums, they're so educational.
So, if the carpenter doesn't put the floor in a new house, who does? Is it not made of wood? Is there some strange union demarcation going on that means that some other profession installs the floors?
Anyway, back to the original point. CCP has spent many years releasing broken patches. They show no sign of improvement. In fact, if anything they're getting worse. If this isn't acceptable to you (and I can see why it isn't), then you'd be better off finding another MMO.

Well, patching in a game as elaborate as Eve isn't so simple. There's a lot of room for things to go wrong in unforeseen ways. So yeah, they're going to make mistakes every once in a while. We should be pleased they're so responsive to the community and can fess up to and correct their errors so readily. The Eve server is amazing, and it's constantly being improved on, but there's just no readily available solution to the lag problem. New Eden is massive, and can have 40,000 people on at once. No server can handle that lag free when people congregate and interact on a massive scale in a complicated environment. And technically we just pay for access to their game, we're not entitled to any assurance as to the quality of our experience, the speed of the server, the length of downtime, the security of our digital possessions, our skill training time, etc etc.

Okay all,
OP has made his point and we don't want players trolling and flaming one another.
TrUeViLnAmI, I am very sorry that you have not been able to access TQ due to this patch issue. The Dev Team are working today to rectify this issue and we hope to have the server up and running for all of you guys. We know you love EVE and just want to get on and play :)

You build houses, you dont code EVE.
You don't expect and EVE dev to tell you how to lay some bricks. Nor do you expect and EVE dev to tell you how to do your job better.
If you knew anything about coding, you will know that while Beta testing does help alot, it only goes so far. Problems not apparent with say a thousand beta testers become apparent with tens of thousands of players on the live build.
And CCP do not use a thousand beta testers. I'd be surprised if they use 100 on a small patch like this (im aware of SISI but they tend to use that for bigger patches).
Until you invent a way for the whole world of program development to cease to have errors, can you please shut your trap until you know a bit more about what you are talking about. Tah. EVE: The Vivitari Story - A Blog by Nobody in EVE Online |
