Hello all,
Been browsing the forums trying to find a list of pirate corps. I dont seem to see many around these days except the likes of VETO, The Guristas Bunnies, Art of War.
Surely there is more out there? we have a merc list, why not a pirate corp list?

Dunno. Probably because everyone and their mothers want to be a Pirate. So, many corps pop up just to dissappear when they find out that they actually suck at it.
And then there's that can of worms called "what is a pirate?"
I assume there are only very, very few corps that have piracy as their main source of income anyway.

piracy is our main source of income, just not in the way you mean

Well, racketeering, can-flipping and stuff like that could be called piracy depending on how you decide to define it.
I still think of the classic ransoming or blow'em-up-for-the-loot style to be piracy. But as I've said before, it's a question of personal taste. Killmails don't really count as loot in my eyes. :)

Well, i would say piracy... They killer players in low sec also 0.0. Most of the corp is outlaw. Gate/Station camp, although this ISNT a must to be a pirate.
Gate camping and station camping are just another part of the game, some call it lame, some fun.
I can think of more corps from years ago, then today.

seriously though, there's no clear cut definition of what constitutes a pirate corp and what doesn't. it's like asking how many people are bi-curious or something

It is piracy, its just some call it lame. But i dont want to get that argument going.
Piracy, basically i would call it blowing up people to make a profit or doing it for fun whilst not doing it due to politics (E.G. the great war Goons etc vs Bob etc)
So, no one else can name other corps other then VETO, Bunnies or AoW?

Add ransoming to that list (without blowing them up after paying), and I'd probably agree.

Agree,
I was looking through the recruitment section and noticed theres not alot putting up recruiting posts. Also, people asking for pirate corps are not getting responses, wether they get it via evemail i dont know.
Hopefully this thread will dig up some pirate corps and help people find a corp too.

Usually because the good pirate corps hand pick their recruits when they have proven themselves. Go hang around in low sec, if you are good at it, you might get an offer you cant resist. If you are to live on pvp, one bad player can break the chain and destroy the income.

The list would be too long to compile and most likely be a waste of time. If you want to find out who is a pirate check the bios and corp. info to find when your chillun in local.

So if a goon-pilot attacked a random guy in low-sec to get some loot then Goonswarm would after that be considered as a piratecorp?
If Veto jumped a local anti-pirate camp to reduce their influence in the region should they then no longer be considered a piratecorp?
I dare to claim that the definitions of pirates are as many as they are vague.

as my esteemed colleague Cpt. Fina has observed, the definition of "pirate" can be protean.
a list of pirate corporations could never be exhaustive especially as you get into the debate about 0.0 piracy and hi sec piracy and their legitimacy.
anti pirate corporations such as Mutually Assured Distraction have been hunting these dogs almost since our inception, and one thing we have continually observed is that pirates almost inevitably claim to be "minding their own business". sly devils.
