This one time I was in Frankfort, jet lagged out, and I went and got a milchkaffe and a berliner and was like, "Hey do you know where the Luftwaffe counter is?" The lady working the coffee counter looked at me like I'd just slipped a finger into her and I was like, "Woops! I mean Lufthansa! Sorry!" And then she laughed and pointed to where it was, and I got my flight rescheduled so I could hang out in Germany for an extra day.

May sound like a joke, but whenever I fly with Lufthansa, I must take care to say luftwaffe to the personell instead.
I blame my collegues. 
There's little a sledgehammer can't fix.
If you can't fix it, you need a bigger sledgehammer.
If it's unfixable, blame CCP. :p

Not a big deal, as lots of German Lufthansa Pilots have previously been employed by German Luftwaffe, trained on Starfighters, F-4 Phantoms and now a days Tornados. Most of em dont mind as civil employment as an pilot pays best down here :P
Anyways, when i first stepped into 0.0 near Kabi and passed h-hh to get into insmother, i got the feeling myself that those guys probably stole the "waffe" from german airforce, but not that they might have decided to miss a "l" in their pancakes with too much flour.
In any case, S******dilly was feared, sniggwaffe not so much. Its probably still that way.
