I doubt i have the setup to end all setups, but i use a brutix
highs 3 salvagers 4 tractors
mids 10 mn AB 3x cap recharger
low 5 x tech 2 expanders
I'm seeing 1300 m3 and with rigs a 50% access bonus
Thoughts anyone?

Even though it was severly crippled and nerfed, I do believe the Eris to be the best salvager around.
If you necessarily need to loot everything and refuse to warp in with a hauler afterwards, I'd probably vote for the machariel or vargur.

Yeh, with the Tractor Beam bonus, I vote for the Mauraders.

Weird setup... btw you get more recharge with a small cap battery + 2 rechargers than 3 rechargers.

Hurricane.
4 salvagers, 4 tractor MWD II, AB II, 2xCR II Exp Cargo II
breaks 2k m^3, still goes 1km/s even with 1 salvage rig on it. perma runs all mods.

My current setup is a cormorant
high ---- 4xSalvager 4xTractor Beam
Mid --- 1x1mn AB 3xCap Recharger
Low --- 1xOverdrive Injector System
Probably not the best setup but it works quite well for me. I go for speed as my drake has pretty long range and i tend to have to close a good amount of distance once i get there

Care to say in what way this makes a better salvager than the Panther, machariel or Eris?
Seems to me it's slower and with less cargo?

I personally would chose the destroyers, because of the speed and cargo capacity and high number of high slots in which you can fit multiple salvagers and tractors. Mind a nice destroyer with a decent amount of mid slots is prefered for cap rechargers and a AB, so i use the courmount.

2,000m^3 is more than enough cargo space to loot and salvage any lvl4. And hurricane is much cheaper than a faction BS, T2 BS or Interdictor. Its a salvage ship, why waste 700m on it?

I can see your point and 35-45mil for ship and fittings wont break the bank.

Are you sure? Had a Gone Berserk last night with 5100m3 of loots. Then another one an hour later with 4600m3.
Granted, some of it was metal scraps... but a lot was big guns too.

Cargo size is irrelevant, speed and high slots ftw. Use a jet can, drag it around, and bookmark it when the area is clear.

What she said.
Thrasher 4 x Salvager, 4 x Tractor 1 x AB, 2 x Cap Recharge 2 x Expanded Cargo
Worse comes to worse, you just jet can and drag the can, then pick it up with your high speed mission hauler.

while destroyers aren't the absolutely best possible ship for salvaging they are cheap enough you can just drop one in every system you mission in which cuts down your running around.

EoM/Merc missions are the exception to the small loot size missions... Makes up for it that Metal Scraps are plentiful in them. I bet at least 800m3 of both values were metal scraps. (pulled ~100 metal scraps in one Gone Berzerk )
I also use a hurricane, and although I don't have the skills for an MWD, so I use an AB instead. And yeah, I also use the jetcan method when I have cargo problems, although if its' just metal scraps and cap batteries in it, I don't bother coming back

Who said waste? It's an investment? Use the ship while you need it, when you don't sell it. And question was about ultimate ship not most suitable for a tight wallet and skilless character?

My Salvager...
Cargo Space is king, speed doesn't matter so long as its 300 m/s. You don't want to go over that since then you have a lot of errors trying to pull from cans you're dragging.
That replaced my Salvage-Geddon. If you're using a destroyer... you're wasting time...

Hey, that just hit me.
Would'nt it be cool to get some salvager drones ? Just like mining ones but for wrecks.
Lock 5 wrecks, send 1 salvage drone on each, rinse-repeat !
And then some 'tractor' or 'tow' drones to grab em far far cans.
Make this in game and i'll call the Domi the ultimate looter =)

What's the definition of Ultimate Salvage Ship? After all, you could kill and salvage at the same time with a marauder far better than you can with any other ship, so it'd be the Ultimate During Combat Salvage Ship. Or if you're not looting (and why wouldn't you? ) then a destroyer is all you need, since salvage takes up no space whatsoever. Heck, a frigate would do. Then it's the Ultimate Cost Effective Salvage Ship For Just Salvaging.
But yes. Now I'm curious about the Ultimate Money Is No Concern The Best Of The Best Salvage Ship.
Salvnaught anyone? But yes, I imagine a Macharial would do fine in that role. It's got plenty of slots and speed.

Navy Megathron's better, most space on any sub-t2 ship with 8 highs.

Seriously, I take three minutes to pick up 2-3 missions worth of loot/salvage cans with an agility fitted mammoth. My MWD speed is over 800m/s in a cormorant and it gets put to good use. Having clusters of wrecks 40-60km apart isn't uncommon. I'm sure I make up for those three minutes in travel and align time, and it never runs out of cap with a t2 cap battery and two t2 cap rechargers. Which part of that is wasting time?
A more appropriate statement would be that if you aren't salvaging more efficiently with a destroyer than any other non-marauder ship then you're doing it wrong.

Actually a interdictor would do better than a destroyer.
And yes, you're right there should probably be a mention for price efficiancy in which case it would most likely be the Reaper or possibly Velator.

I Use a thrasher
4x tractors 4x salvagers Some named frigate AB I found 2 cap rechargers I found 2 Cargo expanders I found
Rigs Whole lot o nothing
Works good, Descent cargohold and cap holds. Also aligns better than anything bigger than it and it's worlds cheaper than a dictor.
I'd vote either thrasher or the amarr dictor as the best salvagers overall. Reasoning
Price, Slot layout, cargo space, and availability.

typical 4x4 setup, mwd, cap recharger, and expanders in the lows.
throw in a med can and you've got nearly 1000m3 of space. good enough for me and i wont **** a brick if some unwanted attention comes my way
