TBH all but a very very few pirates I have met in lowsec are a complete joke when it comes to pvp skills. (And no, affording a macharial or mothership is not the same as having pvp skills) But then that is probably why they dont come in 0.0. Risk adversity doesnt lend itself well to fighting competent PvPers.
But on the other hand, they did attack the PvP Basic class in Aunenen this weekend. I wonder what it feels like to loose a Navy Mega and normal Mega to a bunch of PvP beginners in tech 1 frigs.

This probably isn't a new idea here, but yeah I kinda agree with this guy. Low sec is to High sec as 0.0 is to Low sec. lol Nice one. =) Props. So now we have real PvPers, ratbears, and carebears. Three groups, two of which are risk adverse. 0.0 pvp is where mettle meets mettle. -------------------- Jonas 'Jonesey' Arniman callsign: nethervoid CEO Shrapnel Industries "You like to blow s*** up, and we like to make that possible." TBH all but very few 0,0 residents I've flown with completely lack the tactical mindset that alot of low-sec PvP:ers have. (And no, the ability to field 30 dreads isn't the same as having PvP-wit). But then that is probably why some 0,0-residents think that they are better than low-sec players. Just because their alliance have taken 20 regions doesn't mean they, themselves, can PvP for ****.

Also: Most low sec pirates dont go to 0.0 for the specific reason that alot of (not all mind you) 0.0 residents have LARGE roaming gangs that fly around and the average pirate isnt wanting to try and take on 30+ bs's with his single one/his small gang.

There are plenty of targets in low sec. What those whiners really mean is that they don't want to be a potential target in low sec, but still want the advantages of low sec.

For those saying 0.0 is for real pvp, I disagree. From my visits to 0.0 its been where people camp gates with bubbles and drop 3 or more carriers on anything that might have a chance against their main gang. I've had much better encounters in lowsec and yes with willing pvp'ers not miners. ----------------- Update my picture. |

Not all pirates over-farm targets. I make a point to let the carebears respawn and make other pirates pay if they ruin a good hunting ground.
This is really only a problem with noobish pirates corps that basically operate as 0.0 alliances transported into low sec. They try to completely lock down a system 24/7 and claim it as their own. These kind of corps usually don't last anyways.

Oooh ouch. You just made yourself look even more like a deluxe sized moron than usual. It would probably have helped to have read the threads in question, especially considering the original poster in one of the linked threads asking for more people in low sec used his main in his pirate corp.
I know that the standard procedure is for the pirates to log on some random alt and whine about hi sec missioning being too lucrative and how it needs to be moved to low sec from the relative safety of internet anonymity, but in this instance you don't even have that excuse.

I believe a skilled pirate can use whatever he has at his disposal to get the kill. Multiple pirates and pirates gangs are too dependant on expensive ships and mods. I say fit up a Thorax with some T2 Gear (cheap all in all) and go have a blast. Also if people think piracy in low sec is simply jumping into system, seeing someone in local and jumping to a belt with their fingers crossed, then those people need a reality check.
Killing people is easy, getting them is the hard part. I've done piracy and 0.0 PvP. I find 0.0 PvP to be a joke the way its done usually. Set up bubble, blob gate, wait.
The only 0.0 PvP I enjoyed was when I had my main and was flying with FZN. That was real 0.0 PvP, no camps, only alliance raids.

Originally by: Turkish Slim Edited by: Turkish Slim on 22/02/2008 21:03:01 I keep seeing whines that there aren't enough people in low sec. It seems Pirates who haunt the low sec areas of EVE are their own worst enemy because they seem to have this unconscious scorched earth policy. They kill off every other player that enter their system which keeps the mission runners and miners out of the low sec systems.
There is no profit to be had in these systems because of this. It doesn't matter if a miner is flying a Hulk fitted with T2 strips and faction fit or if they are flying a mining frigate with a T1 fit both are blown up equally fast. Same for mission runners the Faction Fitted CNR or the T1 Fitted Cruiser, both go up in flames. If there is one guy in a out of the way low sec system several pirates in T2 ships will show up and blow him and pod him to boot. Pirates remove any and all reason to go to low sec for the non-pirates.
Then because they are too dumb to figure out this simple fact they whine about moving this or that into low sec so that the easy targets are forced to come there. A more intelligent plan would be to actually start a protection racket in a system or two where people can buy (at a reasonable price) protection and then you hunt in another system and defend the one you have the racket in. Plenty of PVP and targets since you can fight other pirate corps who invade your system, you can go ruin other pirates protection rackets.
I mean its got to be boring as hell camping a gate in some out of the way low sec system, or logging on every 30-60 min to see if there is anyone in your system to gank. Basically the killmail *****s are screwing things up for the rest of you who are trying to actually Pirate.

I'm glad using cool expressionss such as "deluxe sized moron" and "You are pure fail" makes you feel a better person than me at least.
Reading comprehension may be an arcane art to some, but if you try hard and read carefully, you'll see that the guy said something in the line of "bringing more people into low-sec." This doesn't translate to your (and many other pirate haters') interpreted fact that they are complaining about too few targets. Obviously having more targets would be awesome for any pirate.
But don't mind what I say. Experience in dealing with you has shown me that you're immune to any civilized discussion. Go and call me some more interesting names if this makes you feel superior.

You're right for a change. That seems to be a pirate that said something about a lack of players in low-sec. However, "snagging 66 battleships" doesn't sound to me as if he's complaining about too few targets. Just that targets are sparse. There's a slight difference between "too few" and "few". But don't worry about that because I'm surely only a <enter your favourite insult for this type> hairsplitting idiot.
And considering all the plenty "pirates" whining about too few targets in low-sec. Take your time, and take a good look at those posting claiming there are too few targets. You might find that they often state "I'm not living in low-sec, BUT there are far too few targets, because pirates have teh rabies" or something similiar.
And just to clarify, not to make you stop calling me names, I never claimed to be a pirate myself. But the majority of people complaining clearly aren't pirates.

Huge ELL-OH-ELL to this. You will find neither real combat or proficient PvPers in 0.0. What you will find is a bunch of carebears who take breaks from mining and NPC hunting to participate in what they believe is PvP. Trust me, 0.0 PvPers are hardly the top of the PvP food chain. See, if you had said that in the first place, you'd have had a good chance of being right. Granted, still hard to tell, since most of the 'not enough people in low sec' complaints seem to come from exclamation points and nameless alts, but hey, enough room for debate on the matter.
But instead you demanded proof that pirates ever say there aren't enough targets in low sec. When this was provided in spades you claimed that not a single pirate in those threads said they wanted more targets in low sec, despite one of the threads being started by a pirate for that very purpose! Did you just not even bother to read the thread, maybe hoping to bluff your way out of it?

- Gate Camping in general
- Fleet Blobs
So what is real PVP in EVE then?

Dyslexia
Dyslexia is a specific learning difficulty that mainly affects reading and spelling. Dyslexia is characterized by difficulties in processing word-sounds and by weaknesses in short-term verbal memory; its effects may be seen in spoken language as well as written language. The current evidence suggests that these difficulties arise from inefficiencies in language-processing areas in the left hemisphere of the brain which, in turn, appear to be linked to genetic differences.
Dyslexia is life-long, but its effects can be minimised by targeted literacy intervention, technological support and adaptations to ways of working and learning. Dyslexia is not related to intelligence, race or social background. Dyslexia varies in severity and often occurs alongside other specific learning difficulties, such as Dyspraxia or Attention Deficit Disorder, resulting in variation in the degree and nature of individualsÆ strengths and weaknesses.

Quote: So what is real PVP in EVE then?
Quote: Whatever you want it to be.
PvP is any player vs. player combat. The issue is that people will weigh the type of PvP they do over the PvP someone else does.
Take the following scenario. Somebody jumps a T2 fitted Raven into a lowsec pirate gate camp and gets ganked 20 vs. 1. According to a 0.0 alliance member, that's not real PvP. But if a -10 jumps into a 0.0 alliance gatecamp and gets ganked 20 vs. 1, that's real PvP? Or what about when a fifteen man nano-gang jumps into an enemy system and takes out an enemy NPC hunter, that's real PvP?
The truth is that pirates seem to be the only ones who aren't delusional about what they do. I sit at a gate all day and kill idiots who sometimes drop nice loot. It's fun and lucritive. Sometimes there is opportunity to fight worthy advisories that pose a challenge, same as for anyone in 0.0, but that's far more rare than the easy ganks.
Most PvP in Eve is ganking regardless of where it occurs.

Normally I wouldnÆt quote a member of these forums under terms tangential to the thread but Cpt Fina finished his post with "remember it's never too late to go back to school."
