Well, it wouldn't go into a technical support thread because it does not pertain to EVE.
I have managed to delete all the REGZ_BINARY from the registry path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/MountedDevices, on my WinXP 32-bits.
I was under the impression this keys would regenerate after a normal reboot. But now Windows is stuck at the light-blue screen which says "Loading Windows", it stops accessing my disks and just stays there ... I can't force it to run in Debug Mode, Safe Mode (any of the 3 settings), it has just stopped working.
Is there any way I can import this data from my WinXP 64bits install (the one I am using right NOW) into the 32-bits registry?
Or should I do a reinstall?
Thanks!

Well, I have finally fixed it. I managed to update the registry files in the Windows folder with those from yesterday's Restore Point, which is stored at System Volume Information, using the Recovery Console.

Yeah, you can't do this on XP. ON Win2K and the various flavors of 98, deleting the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE would wipe out all of your drivers and let you reinstall. It was a great way to ease massive system upgrades (mobo and such).
Good thing you didn't import the XP64 Registry...the drivers are usually different.
No more.
