Im trying to decide what race to focus on ( I know you can use anything if you train for it but i want to focus on one at the beginning) and I am having trouble finding reliable information on the viability of the different races specialties. I see a lot of bagging on the amarr for lasers, I saw the devblog about buffing them but it looks like its been a problem for a while and doesn't look like it will be fixed anytime soon. I played gallente before and know that they are pretty powerful with their mix of blasters and drones, and I am not really interested in the minmitarr at all. I can't really find much useful info on missile warfare and the little I have doesn't sound very promising, Most of it is about how the enemy can just outrun them and how you have to get close and the caldari ships are slow to begin with. I really like the idea of a missile fighter but I don't want to gimp myself and I am willing to go back to gallente if they are that superior of a choice. Can anyone shed some light on the state of weaponry and maybe point out the good points of missiles (yes I know the caldari are good at railguns also and I am willing to use them but I really would like to specialize in missiles if possible). Thank you for any info.

All races are effective. Don't worry about picking a certain race and "Gimping yourself"

Caldari missile boats are the best for PvE, for mission running. Blaster boats are better for PvP. Missiles and projectiles need no cap to keep them running. Hybrids need a little cap and lasers need a lot of cap.

Edited by: Kahega Amielden on 24/02/2008 05:00:26 I disagree with that.
Caldari missile boats are only considered best in PVE because it's easier to get the skills for the Raven and the top end ships.
Missiles have that disadvantage in PVP, true, but they also don't have to worry about transversal velocity like turrets do.

They can, but they also mess up your ranges as well. No point being able to swap damage types if it also changes your turret range so that your tracking speed/accuracy is now inappropriate. Missiles, however, all have virtually identical stats for the same class other than the type of damage they do.

thats why you know your gun, if you switch dmg types know your ranges, this seems like a simple thing to do.
only thing to think about is keeping all ranges the same moving them in and out in combat is sometimes a good thing. -Minee Ze
