I read a lot about PVP and ppl's ships being destroyed.
Are you using thes best (rare) equipment you have and risk to loose it in those battles OR do you use easily replacable equipment?

Easily replacable usually.

Easily replaceable. Losing a 90 mil bship is bad enough, losing 400+ mil of rare loot is just wrong.

Rare ones, of course.
What the heck is the meaning of having rare stuff if you don't use it?
And don't gimmie some crap about using them against NPCs, since it's a bigger risk to die against NPCs due to lag/ctd/"whatever bug you choose" than it is in PvP.

I use a mix.
Named MWD's/missile launchers/dmg mods/tac shields for example.
I never use named guns on my battleships - they're overpriced atm.

Why would I buy something ( or whatever you do to get those nice expensive toys ) and unfit it cause I might die? The moment the risk is the highest is the moment you need that really good stuff too improve your chances of survival/victory. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

A mix. I take too many risks to use 300 mil worth of equipment.

The loadouts I use wouldnt work with anything less than an XL-C5L, Rare Tachyons etc, simply not enough CPU/Power.

It depends, i have one tempest loaded out with my 1400m "scouts" XL CL-5, one loaded with 800mm Proto's and siege arbs, then i have a 3rd with bog standard market 1400mm's. My 4th has the uber l33t 6 x Miner II's on i paid 4m each for when they first came out
I'll be honest, the 1400 "scout" tempest doesnt see the light of day much, its mearly there to serve as my ***** extension in saying i have it The 800mm temp gets a run about now and again, the only time recently i took it out i was lucky enough to get a scorp kill the other day.
99% of my battles are fought in a stock tempest, with items i have BP's for, and replacements in my hangar.

I'm primarily a frigate fighter, so I'll go into combat with the cheapest loadouts I can fit. Up until recently I favored the Breacher over all other frigates. I'd spend more on the ammo I'd carry at any time than I would on the rest of the ship!

giving 90% when you can give 100%, is for weaklings.

In battleships I use the best modules I can find and in frigates I use basics more or less.

In PvP you want to use as good stuff as you can but at the same time use stuff you can afford to lose.
I have found that the top notch stuff is actually alot better to sell than to use yourself even for my peacefull playing.
I did some calculating back when I was setting up my rupture for 0.0 NPC hunting way back.
At that time I was using a 650/425 proj weapon combo that I found worked very well for hunting up to 45k NPC.
Checking the naga shop its easy to see that if I would have used 'scouts' then I would be flying with 10M isk just in guns, dropping to prototype that sum fell to 7M and gallium down to 1.2M.
If you bthen take a look and compare the damage loadout for gallium vs 'scout' you will see that while it is true that the 'scouts' will cause more damage the damage boost does not justify its cost, in reality you could sell the guns and get a second rupture with gallium guns for the price of them 4 'scouts'.
This is true for most modules, 3rd best is dirt cheap, best 1 orpossibly 2 have a value that makes it far better to sell off the mod then to use it oneself.
If it wasnt for the fact I cant be bothered with messing with the trade channel I would sell off my scout proj guns, my counterbalanced weapon mounts, my fourier tracking programs and so on, at the moment however Im simply stockpiling most of them and using a very few of them when I play in safe areas.

Balls out baby. I'm not into keeping stuff in boxes.
To put a different spin on it, are you here to play the game or not. Because not fitting the best kit is like fighting down to armor, you ain't really taking part are you. Just there for cheap thrills. |
