Some say the Crow is the best interceptor because you can fly it fast (speed tanking) and fire missiles which do not have tracking penalties.
However, others say the Crusader is better because it is faster and does more damage.
Which is the best interceptor for speed and damage in PvP and why?

Crusader is Faster and more agile, But i ahve no clue about its dps tbh. you can fit 3 standard missile t2 launchers on the crow. The crow is not a slow ship bear that in mind.

crow is fast but the firepower is not that great actually (really it's not).
the crusader can become a beast with damage due to how light it is and the fact it can pack 4 turrets (DLP setups with 1 HS or 2 pack quite a punch).
claw suffers a bit due to weight problems, but it actually has some firepower.
taranis is the one that packs the most firepower, but it's also the slowest (it is also the tanky-est of all 4 of the "killer" interceptors). ---

I fly all ceptors except amarr, and I like the taranis best, even for solo. Its not always easy, but you can kill crows with it solo as well, as long as the crow dont have an insane speed or faction disrupter.
And for roaming groups, the taranis is awesome. I have almost 300 DPS on mine, which is much more than a typical ac-barrage vaga does at 15km range.
I liked the stiletto before for tackling, but nowdays 1 point is almost always enough so its lost a litte of its appeal.
Claw, ares, raptor pretty much sucks in my opinion (ares is nice as a fast shuttle though).

Crow will ever be my last choice. Its easy to permarun the MWD, but i laks of firepower and is a jummy target for every other ceptor.
I am flying a crusader and it kills a crow just a bit scratched at the shields. A ranis is hard to kill, dont let them come close and dont even mess with minmatar ceptors cause of the high em resists.
I think a ranis is the best allround ceptor

Maybe it depends on your style.
If you like pure damage, the Taranis sounds best.
If you like a better chance of escaping if things go wrong, maybe the Crusader is best?

every good interceptor pilot knows how and when to escape rather easily. except maybe, the taranis in blaster setup, because of the inherent range of the ship.
that's why it's a do-or-die ship
the crusader in DLB setup has a nice operation range and can pretty much work at the edge of the warp scrambling range. not that uncommon to see a crusader orbiting you at 15km range and you can't do squat about it, because he's going too fast for you ---

a sader (with my skills) pulls something like 80-100 dps with just 4x gatling pulse lasers/dual light pulse
A ranis, from what I understand, can pull a lot better dps, and can have better survivability, but less speed.
A crow can run MWD/scram and shoot you from outside web range, with iffy dps, and if something can hit it it is dead.
A malediction... lower dps than a sader, but more survivability.(armor resist bonus). Can fit a better buffer than the other ones. however, you either have to be within web range, or use jav rockets, hurting your speed.
Overall, I personally would go with the sader - good speed, good damage, no ammo problems. Can be fit for inside web range or outside of web range (if you want to do less damage)... Problems are of course if you get webbed... you are more or less dead anyhow. Ive noticed that 99.9% of people on these forums have a signature. If you are one of the 0.1% that doesnot have a sig, copy this into your sig, and display your defiance towards people with sigs. |

OP is definitely ebayer
how else do you explain ship losses like this and this and still not know anything about a ceptor, even after making the exact same thread a year ago?

Crow: Poor dps, fast, reliable weapons (tracking? What's that?), made of paper (unless you put a shield extender in the 3rd mid).
Crusader: Flown well, this just EATS other inties. Quick, good tracking, fairly tough.
Claw: Never flown it, beaten every one I've fought. Silly fast though. Shame AC's have such poo range and arties have such poo tracking really.
Taranis: DO. NOT. LET. IT. GET. CLOSE. If you can do that, you win. Otherwise you lose very, very quickly. Has drones, which is fun. "I got soul but I'm not a soldier" |

Ranis => all.
Rails for long range dps = awsome tracking, good dps (for long range weapon).
Blasters for close range = un-rivialed.

Because every inty worth its salt goes 6.5kms+ these days you can basically ignore any Crows without webs. Missiles don't do any damage at those speeds, guns do. Also the Malediction is better in basically every single way.

Claw's don't live very long when fitted with ACs, the lack of a webb really screws you. 250mm IIs work alright, but your incredibly ****ty lock-range makes keeping a lock frustrating. That said, my T2 Claw does 7km/s with minimal pimpage.

i say fuk it and just use missiles on the malediction +10m/s on the crow or something
i personally don't give a hoot about dps on an inty. if i wanted dps i would fly something else.
although i do remember my raptor hitting another interceptor with about 6km/s transversal at one point. crusader is apparently good at doing that too.
