Hi,
Sorry if this is not the right forum for this.
I am making a website meant to be viewed both in the big three browsers and the in game browser. And on I.E., FireFox, and Opera I do not see this, but on the Eve in game browser I get the following characters displayed on a line before the first object, a header, in the body.
n++
Here is how the code for the page looks so far.
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head> <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"/> <title>The Amarrian Exchange Group - Entrance</title> </head>
<body> <h2>The Amarrian Exchange Group.</h2> </body>
</html>
When I am going to view it, I am pointing the in game browser to the file on my local machine.
Does anyone know what is happening here? Thanks.

While it can interpret at some point xhtml pages, it's not as advanced as the usual out-game browser. Therefore, I suggest you use a different and simple HTML4.0 (or 3.0, don't remember exactly wich version the IGB is good at) template set for the in-game version of your page.

Edited by: Lenus Daragio on 25/02/2008 09:49:05 I believe the problem may be your meta tag, try taking that tag out altogether and see if the IGB works.
I've used the strict doctype before and haven't had any problems with it. Before that tho, you may want to ensure that there is a space between the end of your meta type and the "/>" that closes it.

Thanks Detox and Lenus.
As far as the meta tag, you were right I forgot the space at the end before the slash. I put it in and tried it, I also removed it and tried it. But the characters keep appearing. While I am inclined to follow DeTox's advice and just do pages for the in game browser, and everything else. I would like to find a way to avoid that as keeping both sets up to date would be a bit more work then I'd want.

Hi,
these characters look like an UTF-8 Byte Order Marker (BOM). There are added automatically by some text editors when writing in UTF-8. Perhaps you need to remove them in your editor (try converting to another charset) or set your web server to send data in another charset.
