Which one are we on now? I remember the really cool killer one from -V-. Really fun to fly with. Then we ended up with some sort of carebear. Then a less carebear one. Are we still on Version 3?

I remember there being a Jenny who wrote a few good guides. Then there was the Jenny who was a really highly competent troll (even troll'd me a few times, even though I could see it coming). Then most recently we've had a Jenny who tries to troll by writing in pigeon English, but they're not really very good at it.
Not sure if there have been any others between those ones. ------

Only Jenny I didn't like was 2007 Jenny. 2006 Jenny made the best threads and was one of the very few people who also disliked WTZ (and I still believe EVE has suffered because of it) among other things. 2008 seems to have brought on a much nicer Jenny, but she just stopped posting altogether now

Bear with me I'm getting old.
But wasn't the original Jenny a Chinese player that stuck up for the non-farming Chinese players and actually went out hunting them? I distinctly remember her/him saying that they wouldn't go and play on the Chinese server, although I bet thats where she/he went.
The latest one is one of the whiney bears, tried to pull off the 'I'm an old character and I don't think PvP should be allowed'. /start sig I love old characters that post 'I've beeen playing the game four years' when I know their account has been sold on. /end sig |

The Original Jenny back in 2006 was a very helpful, pvping woman... Think you are right about her being from Malaysia. One thing that made me think was her greeting me in local, having a talk about earlier -V- days... Dunno if it was the old Jenny still. (That was back in 2007... think around november)

Jenny was a troll, and someone who bought a notorious resold troll character and tried to pass it off as a 3 year veteran. While entirely possible that she really has gone and snuffed it, it's far more likely that its just another forum ruse in a long line of them.
Or to put it another way- when a well known **** stirrer says something dramatic, odds are they're just **** stirring again.
Still, 1000 apologies if I'm wrong. ------

Do you guys really think its a different "person" behind Jenny Spitfire during each of her incarnations? Or do you just lament each of these different personalities?
I only ask because I find it highly unlikely this character has changed hands four times.
First, as far as I know Jenny has always been a forum poster (*****?). I would find it extremely odd that this character has been sold on ebay four times, and that EACH of the four people who bought it, were also into posting/trolling/whoring on the eve-o forums.
Its also pretty difficult to not get caught "selling" characters these days. You want me to believe that this well known character has been sold on ebay (or another site) 2, 3, or 4 times while never managing to be caught (either by CCP or another eve-o player)?
This brings up another thing, actually. She's a hi-profile character known for multiple forum personalities and being an "ebayed" character. Do you really think that in all this time no one has petitioned her for being an ebayed character?
And if she's been petitioned, I'm sure CCP has investigated... yet still she's here.
The different personalities of Jenny Spitfire speak more to me of someone who likes to post on the eve-o forums behind an old and well known character, but has just gotten bored.

Well, I do know that the character has had a major personality change at least 3 times since I started EVE-O whoring. The first time made sense as a character resale- the first Jenny was a well known forum personality who was well known for contributing to the community (and was also pretty annoying, but meh). Then suddenly it switched to a blatant troll- it seems like someone bought a well known character specifically for trolling. Imagine if DS put his character up for sale, or Chribba; wouldn't you just expect to see someone nab it and use it for trolling?
After that, I'm not sure if there have been any resales. Theres certainly been several major style changes, but I don't know if thats just the first "buyer" mixing it up a bit. The natural assumption is just that the character hit the market again, and another wannabe troll decided to give it a try.
The most recent Jenny was quite convincingly genuine as someone who just wanted to buy a character and play with it, but didn't realise how famous the character was. Could have just been another troll-game, though. ------

I did ops with Jenny in late 2005, I remember enthusiasm, self-respect and team spirit. "Fun character" whose Police Academy standard of PVP exploits lightened the mood, maybe, but I don't remember hearing any real criticism. Seemed like the real deal on the forums in 2006.
Since that first sale, the forum has been telling a different story. I think the above theory could be right, maybe the account only changed hands once and there has been only one bored troll Jenny. It sure as hell isn't the happy go lucky volunteer I remember, unless they underwent a dramatic personality change and need to get the hell off the internet to re-examine their life.

I don't know. feels like the old Jenny far too much. Do you know her in RL?
the 2006-2007 change was far too gradual imo to be an account sale, just seems more like something happened to her to make her change her perspective somewhat. Playing WoW might have had something to do with it

Again, I'm betting that this is the same person for every incarnation. I understand that Jenny used to be helpful, posting guides, etc...
But you said it yourself, there was something annoying about her from the very beginning. That this changed from random annoyance to outright trolling as the game got older isn't a big surprise. This type of person thrives off of notoriety... when the game is new, they get it by being helpful (sometimes in a backhanded way).
As the game gets older, being helpful isn't what it used to be. So in this case the person behind the character starts trolling, and actively implies that the character has changed hands. Now how stupid would that be? The character has never, to my knowledge, been sold on these forums. Who would illegally buy a character, and come a trolling on the forums letting everyone know "hey I ebayed this character."
And again, the odds that this character has been passed by sale to multiple people who post on the forums regularly? They are long at best.
So now the character has a reputation for being an "ebayed" character that everyone who forum *****s knows--young or old. What better way to continue the reputation than having pronounced personality "changes?" She changes styles and everyone eats it up.
And again, you said it yourself, this is a well known character. Nobody at CCP or here has ever seen her for sale on an auction site. I also promise you that with the notoriety that she has, she has been petitioned. CCP would have investigated and any funny stuff with multiple IP changes, or multiple region changes would have gotten the character banned.
What is more think about it. She's a very old, well known, high SP character. Most new players don't plop down $800 or so a character like Jenny would fetch before they KNEW they were sticking with the game.
I really doubt that she has been the same person behind each personality.
