Incidentally, has CCP mentioned any plans for tech beyond tech 2? It seems to me that a lot of the current valuations for tech 2 BPOs assume that nothing better comes along over the next few years. But that could change over several years. Tech 2 materials, components, and modules could be become more commonplace in empire, tech 2 BPOs seeded in empire, etc.

The core problem is some players want to destroy other players' assets through metagame nerfs rather than play fairly. Frankly, I can't understand why someone would give a damn. Tech II BPOs aren't very productive for their cost. No offense, but I get a feeling that the anti-BPO side is arguing out of ignorance both of tech II BPOs (and their limited economic role), and of the nature of Eve. Probably a bit of envy too. If a very few people aren't ever supposed to have high value assets, then was is the point of Eve's economic game? A lot of people play the game to be among the richest in Eve. BPOs are symbols of that wealth. Second, Eve is a tough PvP game. I really don't think there's a place for whining that others have things you don't have.

It is not the most pressing problem of EVE but it kinda itches as they 'have' it and I do not have it and only way for me to have a go at it would be persuading someone who has it to give it up in favor of me.
I don't see why this is wrong. Even though I disliked the lottery as a bad game mechanic, I see no reason to nerf the spoils from that lottery. You aren't locked out from making the items in question. Every t2 BPO (with the possible exception of discontinued items like mines) has an invention path. And having something that others don't have, is a good portion of the point of the hypercapitalism in Eve. If you want a particular tech II BPO, then all you need to do is dangle the appropriate amount of isk or perhaps some sort of barter (eg, supercaps or high quality faction gear).
