Kojee DEATH'S LEGION	Posted - 2008.02.25 20:05:00 - [1] This is a true story. As usual, a group of Death's Legion pirates, along with members of Old School Goons and Low Sec Liberators, were camping a stargate in Aridia. We had just warped to the stargate to wait for a target to jump through as one of our pilots, Lithium Star, decided to check out a cynosural field. Upon arriving, he found the pilot that had generated the field, as well as an Anshar - the Gallente jump freighter - and promptly notified the rest of the gang that he was outside the POS shield. We immediately warped to Lithium Star and opened fire on the Anshar, putting at least a webifier and a scrambler on him. He obviously tried to get back into the shield, and he almost succeeded, but various pilots were able to bump him to the point where his hopes were lost. It was at this point that the pilot of the jump freighter ejected from his ship and warped to the local complex. We attempted to ransom the ship, but he didnÆt have the amount we were looking for. His AnsharÆs structure went to zero and we observed a beautiful blue flash. We began recovering what loot we could from the blast. Nothing noteworthy was present, just a bunch of fuel. A salvage attempt on my part yielded the following message: Quote: 06:22:36 Notify You successfully salvage from the Gallente Elite Freighter Wreck. Unfortunately there was nothing to be salvaged. Our fleet warped off to a safe spot as a neutral alternate character picked up what was left of the fuel. Upon making the final trip to get the last bit, the Anshar pilot warped to the POS on the other side of the shield with a Thanatos. Unfortunately, the neutral alternate character was considered a threat and their ship was quickly locked, webified, warp scrambled, and subsequently destroyed. The Thanatos approached the wreck only to find that there was very little fuel left. The alternate character obviously revealed this to the rest of our gang, after which we warped right back to the same spot and began engaging the carrier. Again, we webified and warp scrambled the ship, attempting to bump it away from the POS shield. As the red filled his shield status bar, we heard someone on our voice communications channel say ôhey, guysà a Revelation just jumped in,ö to which most of us replied ôoh crapà letÆs go.ö Most of us warped to our safe spot, but a couple remained with webifiers and scramblers still on the Thanatos. After a few seconds, we started thinking and realized the Revelation probably wouldnÆt be able to do much. One pilot said, ôwell, IÆll go back If you guys will,ö and thus we all hopped on the bandwagon and warped back to the POS. We managed to get his armor down to about a fourth of its total capacity, shooting and destroying many of his fighters in the process, but somehow he was able to reach the boundary of the shield and we all lost our locks. We sat in dismay as he pulled his fighters, when all of the suddenàhe was outside the shield again! Locked, webified and scrambled, we knew we had him again. We bumped him away from the shield and kept him in place as we whittled away at the remainder of his armor and into his structure. The dreadnought, on the other hand, was starting to scare us as he exited the shield. We began moving back and forth whilst still popping the fighters in order to maintain a high transversal velocity, and fortunately for us the dreadnought never really engaged us. He crept back within the boundary of the shield and watched as his mate fell to three-quarters structure.

Tech 1 drones of several sorts, a few more fighters, and a batch of Wasp EC-900s attempted to exact revenge, but failed. The carrier was now at about a third of its structure when we realized he was alarmingly close to the shield again. We argued whether to keep shooting the fighters or not, but agreed to unlock them and focus our fire on the carrier. After some deliberation, we decided not to ransom his carrier and to destroy it. A few quick minutes later, a more beautiful blue flash lit up the area. The Revelation had left his buddy to the piranhas. Various ships stayed at the POS tanking its few small and medium guns as one of our carriers and one of our haulers picked up the remainder of the fighters, drones, and loot from the wreck, after which many of our pilots returned to camping the stargate. During the almost five years I have been playing EVE Online, this weekend was undoubtedly the most rewarding. A big hug to the capital pilot we had fun with and his friends for a great night. The thanatos pilot would have been back and the ship was in heavy structure. With a gang of that size we wouldn't have been able to defend the Ship especially if that revelation in the pos had engaged. In fact had that revelation engaged and been long range we wouldn't have gotten the carrier. Also as was said before were a low sec corp regular freighters, carriers, and haulers are more than enough to keep us supplied, so why have someone train jump freighter?
