I keep getting very low FPS spikes in EVE, I recently bought an NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT graphics card so i could run EVE on Premium settings. Although i can run Premium on Max settings (and it look superb) my FPS sometimes drops from around 60-80 to 0!!! Now, ok, it only happens for about 2 seconds, but that's how long it takes for a pirate to lock onto you and warp scramble you!
I get these low FPS spikes when I do things such as Warping, Destroying something, Docking and Undocking, Opening any of the tabs, such as Wallet, Market, Jukebox, Or just looking around. I get them every time I do any of the above
I had this same problem before i bought my new 3D card, which was before i installed Premium. I see that allot of other people have the same problem too. My computer meets all the "Recommended settings" or even higher in some areas. And No, the problem is not down to my Internet connection, it's fine and always has been.
If anyone can please help me out, it would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

I am experiencing the same problem. It seems like the lag spike hits everytime when new 3D objects have to be loaded - when entering, exiting warp, when other people warp in and so on. Another common situation is when information has to be loaded - in the market for example.
What I would like to know if this is a problem that EVERY player is experiencing since it is a problem with the game itsself or if there are also players who have a 100% lag free gaming experience.
Since I have a very good machine which allowes me to play at about 100 FPS with all premium effects enabled it shouldn't be a hardware issue. Other games like Company of Heroes, which is even more hardware challenging, runs without a single freeze for several month now.
I'd like to see an admin's statement in this thread. Other threads of this type are just a list a players who are reporting the same problem. We need solutions dear admin team.

Edited by: Mike Rowlings on 06/03/2008 00:38:15 I am having the same problem and, in an odd way, am happy to know I'm not the only one having these issues.
In my case, the game only starts freezing after playing for awhile. I haven't measured exactly how long it takes before the 1 second freezes and FPS spikes start occurring though, but I would say an hour/2 hours of gameplay.
Quitting the game and restarting sorts out the problem for me.
On a side note, the EVE client doesn't use many of the system resources available on my computer: 5-35% CPU usage and 600MB out of 2GB RAM.

I am having the exact same issue on both my boxes, i run 3 accounts and after a short while the pauses start and continue getting worse till its hard to play.. a restart of the client fixes it for a short while. I run Nvidia cards, and my hardware is no slouch either..

Exact same issue here too. I have a 8800GTS 512mb with latest Nvidia drivers and a quad core 2,4ghz + 2gig RAM. The game is running fine when suddenly it freezes for like a second, then it returns to running fine. Sometimes I get these freezes or stutters like once every 1 or 2 minutes. It is very annoying and after googling for a solution it seems like no one has a definitive answer or solution to this problem.
I've tried disabling hyperthreading for EVE in the nvidia control panel and downloaded some "windows multicore fix" but it still doesnt work. I also tried disabling some of the trinity graphics and lowering the cache.
I hope that the solution can come to light now when I see im not alone with this problem.

No freezing here, but opening let'S say the fitting window in station eats 10 to 15 fps an my comp. Opening containers that have much items in it eats fps aswell. Managed to bring the client fps from 90 to 70fps by simply open some windows and containers. Another note, switching chattabs causes serious fps drop for a second, and with very fast scrolling in hangars or containrs that have much items can bring the client fps to a big drop. I could bring the client to 20fps from 90fps by some scrolling action.

I think we all mean the issue of flying in space without doing anything. Or looking at your ship while in a station. And then suddenly your game totally freezes for a second or so and then returns to normal. This can happen like every minute.

Same prob here...its starting to kill the game playability/enjoyment. I am kind of leaning towards maybe a netcode issue....seems to happen across a broad range of mid-high end hardware, so that shouldnt be an issue in most cases. I notice the problem at it's worst in-station when fitting, looking at market or going through items and loading new chat windows. Romans 8:38 |

I get the same thing. It just freezes for a few moments frequently after a long time of playing, no matter what I'm doing.

Seems to have something to do with shadows. I had this problem, started fiddling with the graphics settings, and disabling shadows made it happen.
