I was on youtube the other day and i saw a video of a guy who was going crazy fast in a ship to get to his target and it seemed liked it would be a cool thing to try sooner or later, so is there a particular setup where your ship is moving really fast while at the same time tanking your enemies, im only gonna be doing like Level 1's maybe 2's. Fastest ive gone so far is 333m/s so any idea or suggestions

Use an intercepter or a speedy t1 frigate. Fit speed mods in the lows and a gist-b type (cheapest deadspace) afterburner. Could go considerably faster than 333/s. Then again a jag with no speed mods would run circles around you.

Edited by: Gartel Reiman on 27/02/2008 17:51:23 If you're only interested in straight-line speed, you might want to look into fitting a 10MN (cruiser) afterburner onto one of the fast frigates. It will handle horribly (trust me, I've done it) but if you were just looking to soak up the aggro and orbit at 100km it will probably give you a higher top speed than any 1MN afterburner would. (This probably only works on the Crusader and Claw though, as none of the other fast ships have enough powergrid to get away with it on a single MAPC...)
Edit: Speed tanking isn't really that viable in missions, due to the nature of the enemies you face - and it doesn't help that you can't use MicroWarpDrives in the vast majority of them. Still, I'm pretty sure any frigate would break 333m/s if you just fitted an afterburner, though this is unlikely to fulfill your desires from watching that video - chances are the pilot was in an interceptor and doing more like 6 km/s.

You're only allowed to use Afterburners in Deadspace missions.
