I'll be stepping into my first CS on my birthday (March 15, a nice present to myself if you will ).
The ship will be for Gang PvP.
I have two choices: Absolution and Sleipnir.
All my tanking skills are T2 (need to get all the comps to 4 on armor EM 4 ASAP and I am lacking shield management 5 for T2 SBA). I also have the following: T2 guns (Pulse/Beam spec 3, AC spec 4 and Arty spec 3), T2 Medium level missiles (HML spec 1, HAML spec 1 [yeah, I know...get them to at least 3 noob!]), Rig skills, T2 Tackling skills (T2 web, T2 disruptor, T2 MWD), T2 drones, the whole nine yards if you will.
My question is which should I get first and why should choose it as I can only afford one right now.
My theoretical setups thus far are:
[Absolution] Heat Sink II Heat Sink II Armor Thermic Hardener II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Medium Armor Repairer II Medium Armor Repairer II
Medium Electrochemical Capacitor Booster I, Cap Booster 800 Warp Disruptor II Y-T8 Overcharged Hydrocarbon I Microwarpdrive
[empty high slot] Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M
Auxiliary Nano Pump I Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Hobgoblin II x5
[Sleipnir] Nanofiber Internal Structure II Damage Control II Gyrostabilizer II Gyrostabilizer II Gyrostabilizer II
Medium Electrochemical Capacitor Booster I, Cap Booster 800 Invulnerability Field II X-Large C5-L Emergency Shield Overload I Warp Disruptor II 10MN MicroWarpdrive II
'Arbalest' Assault Missile Launcher, Caldari Navy Sabretooth Light Missile 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Barrage M 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Barrage M 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Barrage M 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Barrage M 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Barrage M 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Barrage M 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Barrage M
Anti-Kinetic Screen Reinforcer I Anti-Thermal Screen Reinforcer I
Warrior II x5 Warrior II x3
I am open to suggestions.

i have flown the sleipnir for months now (6 i think) and i can allso fly astarte on this char.
when my alt got into the absolution.... i started training amarr skills on this char aswell.
i love abso... i prefer it over the sleipnir.
your fits are good but may i make a small suggestion :)
on abso... drop one ean and fit a DCU on sleip.. drop the nanofiber and fit a overdrive for more speed or inertia stab for more agaility and faster acceleration.
i use 425mm on my sleip tho.. but thats a small difference ---------------------------------- This is Me, fighting stupidity one post at a time. PS: There are no computer BUGs, there is stuff called "Random Features"

Fit the MWD/AB speed boost gang mod on the Sleipnir. Do not under any circumstances undock the ship without this gang mod and the mindlink in your head. You should also fit the armor resist gang mod on the Absolution, but since you need to drop a tank mod for a grid mod, that's a bit more optional.

Which ship to choose is mostly depending on what kind of ships your gangmates are in and the fightingstyle of your gang. Both ships are good but a correctly flown CS can be a fantastic boost to the right gang.
If your gang is mostly nano and/or small ships go for the Sleipnir, if they're mostly in BS/BC's with heavy armor tanks go for the Absolution.

not really needed... depends on gang. i have sofar never used gang mods on my sleip.. if i wanted to fit those... ill use a claymore.
most ppl i know who fly sleips dont use gang mods. ---------------------------------- This is Me, fighting stupidity one post at a time. PS: There are no computer BUGs, there is stuff called "Random Features"

Most people you know are idiots then. The AB/MWD speed gang mod gives you a 1000m/s speed boost, not counting the velocity bonus from the mindlink. You'd have to be utterly insane to turn that down on a Minmatar ship. And that's just on your ship... everyone else in the gang will enjoy the speed boost just as much. And there's just no reason not to fit one, you have plenty of grid/cpu, so all you're turning down is a single un-bonused missile launcher (IOW zero dps).

Don't listen to him. It's Finfleet ;-)
IMHO, its just stupid to fit a Gangmod on an absolution since you will gimp the rest of the fitting. (i.e. Heavy Pulse down to Focused) On a Sleipnir it might be usefull since speed is these days that much powerfull. I have a corpmate who made zillions of solo kills in a Sleipnir without a Gangmod.
Conclusion: It always depends on the Pilot and what you are planing to do. --------------- |

yes.. i agre it svery usefull.. but the fit im currently useing doesnt even allow me to fit the mod... im axactly out of cpu and pg is allso only few short. mybe on nano fit sleip it can.. i have a xl tank fit.... and i use faction stuff to acctually fit the damn thing allready ---------------------------------- This is Me, fighting stupidity one post at a time. Its a great thing for sure, but its not needed to be totally succesful. If you want speed in your Sleipnir and fit od/nanos then its perfect for it, but for other situations like gate camping, then its useless. If your also by yourself or with just one other, its not really that great anyways. I like having a massive tank versus massive speed. Everything you can catch you can kill, everything that can catch you, you can kill. With max leadership, navigation, and lg snakes, my Sleipnir goes a little over 5km/sec with 2 od, and 2 nanos. My unpolyd Vagabond without gang bonuses or snakes goes almost 5.7 km/sec with 2 od and 2 nanos, so my Sleipnir won't be able to catch my own Vagabond. If you try to make this thing go as fast as you can, you still wont be able to catch the fast ships (Nanoed HACs) so shut your yap untill you know what you are talking about.
Another thing, with decent missile skills, a HML II, with CN missiles, you can pump out 25-30 dps from that "single unbonused missile launcher"

You can thank this man for keeping me in EvE...supplying me with Prophecies as I would lose them and he just happens to be the reason that I love the Abso so much. ------------------- ნỊs uʍop əpỊsdn Support the introduction of Blaze M crystals for Amarr! |

I'd go for the sleip beause I like to shoot while being totally capped out and just injecting an '800 for a burst of my XL booster. Not sure about the abso, but the sleip with 220's also hits orbiting ships still very well. Once tried sleip versus a corpmates claymore. he did like 2000m/s in a 18km orbit and my sleip still hit him without any problems. ----------------------
