Yeah those caracals really showed up and did nice - BUT they did nice against Drakes, so C'mon... Caldari isn't bad but don't pretend they're super because they are doing super well in a tourney. -
I'm a nice guy!! But plz hook me up with some pew pew... |

Kind of helps when you don't have to scramble anything, and can warp in at your chosen range.
As you know, this is how PVP is on TQ No one ever tries to warp away, or tries to dictate range using speed setups.
How many times you ever see a gang with 2 guardians and a curse slowly crawling towards you. Tourney PVP is a spectator sport. TQ PVP is brutal

As soon as a close range fleet with well established support ships get close those caracals won't last a 30 seconds.

If you think of this situation (the tornament), caldari will be favoured a lot i think. Reasons being is that missiles have a max range, but no optimal, falloff or tracking. This is all under a controlled enviroment.
In real PVP you never know what the enemy has (sometimes). And you also need to scramle (no need in the tourney). You have jumpgates ppl jump in through.
So you have a very controlled situation here. (intys mostly useless here, but essential in a lot of PVP)
So i think caldari is favoured for the tourney, but not in REAL pvp.

i cant say i disagree with that. good points. although caldari arent favoured in normal pvp, they can be super in the right situations with the right skills. as can any other race.
the caracals one because 2 caracals has more dps than 1 drake. its that simple. and with a bit of remote assist - theres no reason why a caracal shouldnt tank a couple of drakes.
you cant really say much about caldari's ability to pvp when its caldari vs caldari. you cant compare something to it self. well you can if you're an idiot i suppose. well ya know what i mean tho?

Several differences which heavily increase the favorability of caldari ships for the tournament.
The fight will be short range The effect of delayed volleys is negligible when you're guaranteed a close fight where no one can warp out and laugh horrendously at the swarm of missiles that will now go aimlessly around space as wasted breath. Battleships vs. Battleships at 200km nobody brings a raven.
There will be ewar jamming Caldari specialize in this as a race.
You don't need warp disruptors This makes shield tanking much easier on fittings; caldari ships are shield tankers.
There is no warping out In tranquility pvp you just leave while missiles are in the air if you don't want to take the damage, then come back.
Limited amount of ships This limits the maximum amount of alpha ships can put out, missiles don't even compare to guns in first strike capability. The numbers are relatively small so you don't see instagibs from large guns, which would already kill targets that missile boats would still be waiting for their volleys to hit, combined with the fact in the tournament you can't warp out.
In summary Caldari for show. Minmatar for a pro.

caldari are not meant for solo pvp, caldari are one of the best for group effort, caldari are very good for PVE
caldari can't tank and tackle, caldari can't hit and run, this is why playing caldari is hard on TQ, there are very few huge battles with organised teams, there are more skirmishes for which gallente and minimatar are very good.
you don't always face the enemy in a fair fight on TQ, most pvpers avoid fair fights, TQ is more about ganking, blobbing, camping and anything but fair tactics.
HACs with spider rep proved to be good, command ship setups failed... some of the caldari guys won, some lost, caldari are not commonly used for PVP, because of the nature of PVP on TQ.
I like caldari for extra CPU, i blame gallente for the lack of CPU
