When I double-click to open EVE, only its system tray icon appears but I can't get in the game. I also hear login music (What's the title of that anyway?)
Even though I'm still in the desktop, I can type in my password, press Enter, and hear the logging-in sounds. Then the client completely freezes up, so there goes my hope of guess-clicking my avatar, getting into the game, clicking approximately where the skill tab is, and blindly choosing another training skill.
My skill training is already complete so I need a solution fast. ______________ Read 4, 6, 7, 19 & 20. |

Can you still click on the desktop during this?
i.e. is the game not rendering, or is it offscreen?
Tip: To recover an off-screen window, press alt+space, m (for move), one of the arrow keys (any will do) then move the mouse.

I too am having that same problem. It started after I crashed when moving items from cargo to station. Now I can't get back in, I hear the music and can type in my pass and it says connecting. But all I can see is the desktop and no Eve. I tried the solution of moving the screen but that did not work. Any help here would be appreciated!
Thanks,

This is similar to a problem I had on my Alienware laptop. It had a switch to boot using the onboard graphics card or the external Nvidia card. The external card worked fine, but if I ran EVE with the onboard card, the EVE window was stuck off screen, if that makes sense. When I clicked EVE in the system tray the animation for opening still played, but it wasn't visible.
I got new drivers for the onboard graphics card, that fixed it.

Apply step 1 of the "balck screen after splash" sticky. Worked for me.
I didn't get a black screen but had the problem the OP described here, after my client crashed.I Backupped my cache folders into a different folder and restarted the game. And it worked. Corrupt file in the cache.
There's little a sledgehammer can't fix. If you can't fix it, you need a bigger sledgehammer. If it's unfixable, blame CCP. :p
