Please refer to the Harbinger as a Hamburger from now on to avoid all confusion. This would be most appropriate if Spiral was eating a hamburger whilst making this pronunciation correction.

I belive Abaddon is pronounced
A-bad'don
the name is biblical, something which fits with the Amarr history.
Abba-don sounds like a bad Swedish band

Sadly for you, it *is* pronounced abba-DON.
Otherwise it stops sounding cool around mobs.

Please don't use that bastardization of the English language that people call American. It cheapens and disgraces such a fine language that millions of people recognise and the one true language.
Please don't mistake those hints of sarcasm for me actually not meaning that i hate the way american have killed the english language though.
However, saying that, the Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary and Thesaurus does get its pronuinciations pretty much spot on, its just that acent that goes straight through me.

In the match between Notoriety Alliance and Green Alliance the word "scimitar" was pronounced skim-i-tar. It's actually pronounced sim-i-ter similar to the pronunciation of the word limiter (lim-i-ter).
Thanks you for your time.

Well, mispronounciations and misspellings happen as surely as pants drop... ahem...
What I think might be mostly an issue for people which are not native-speakers of the english tongue (in which variety whatever), is the sheer speed of some sentences. Just to make one example, no offense to Spiral intended.
Every time SJ mentioned that IRC channel, I rather felt like being shelled with a heavily gyro'd and RoF-rigged AC rather than understanding something. In then end someone had the good idea of having it typed out on the screen, but all sympathy and appreciation notwithstanding... Spiral, wanna think of those poor sods watching EVE-TV you kinda speech-podded in the future?

I'll roleplay my ass out of this any day of the week. When I mispronounce anything I just say it's how it's called in the dialect where I'm from, Gallente Prime, you cannot argue with prime fiction.

Did anyone ever actually decide on the pronounciation of Kitsune?
Is it pronounced:
Kit-soon, Kit-sun, Kit-soon-ee (omfg, what?! Dear god, no!),
I'm sure it was supposed to be a sune, like a dune, but with an s... Am I rambling?
Tiger.

I think what we need is a standard to which we can all agree to. I propose that someone digs out their Texas Speak and Spell machine and enters all the disputed ship names into said machine and records and publishes the results.
It's the only way to put an end to all this uncertainty.
Maybe evetv could take the Speak and Spell machine to the next tourney and put a pink hat on it and get a more compelling response.

I would pronounce it Kit-soon-ee. Wikipedia has a recording of a japanese voice pronouncing it as what sounds like keet-sun-eh. Given that they can't pronounce our words either I don't see it matters. Either way the last e is definately pronounced. ---- Exploding underpants: The real weapon of last resort. |

That particular ship is pronounced Kit-soon-eh with Kitsune being Japanese for Fox. -------------------------------------------

Theres a geordie Drummer called Abaddon, he was 1/3 of the band that invented black metal, along with Cronos and the other guy.
