Edited by: Slam on 06/04/2004 07:48:10 A rumor says that CCP plans to release 10 Jovian battleships to the players with 1 year old subscriptions.
Means of distribution will be the logic used in the tech II lottery.

Of course if CCP gives away battleships to those people who got onto EVE the day it launched, they'll completely ignore the US people who weren't able to get the game until Launch Day 2 ... and I can think of better ways to do the lottery, like use a truly random number generator (bouncing ball anyone? just drop a bouncy ball throughout a room or use the number of leaves on a tree branch or something).
They should give us some kind of nifty tool, like an evaluation copy of the Ship Painter; or release Shiva on that day. -----------------------------------------------

On the Jove BS, I heard you can mount 4 x Tachyons, 4 x 1400mm Howies, a couple siege launchers and still have enough power grid/cpu to shield tank the hell out it.
Wait, whattaya mean it's not true?
One year date is May 21st. Eve went retail a little later in the states. Part of the whole SoonTM strategy. --------------

I have one of the 10 t-shirts that were given out to the ten first people who bought the game. Those same people also got an envelope with a letter inside it, all I have to do is fill mine out tand send it to CCP to get one free month of service :D

I started beta as soon as I became the Eve Online IRC operator, which was shortly after the alpha ended, and enjoyed the retail from day one.
Eve put me on a new track in life, inspired me to become a writer, and has now allowed me to work for Gamers Hell as a reviewer as well as a local newspaper as a columnist.
I am studying to major in English and minor in Journalism thanks to Hell Gremlin and INO, both I never would have met or joined had I never participated in the community.
I owe a **** load to the folks here û oh, and the devs are finally opening the Earth Jumpgate from which the Jove viciously attack, destroying Amarr space.

Um, how do the jove viciously attack when the earth jumpgate(also known as the evegate) goes back to earth, not the jove's section of space? No?
Bit worrying considering you're an eve journalist

That is true.
And unless I missed a bunch of updates on the history of the Jove, I still subscribe the popular theory.
The Jove are from Earth or at least trade with the Earthlings.
I mean, if the Earthlings did come back, theyÆd be 25,000 or so years more advanced - currently, the most advanced people in the Eve galaxy are the Jove, so logic dictates that they became that advanced through some outside means; especially since all the other races exist at about the same level of technology, give or take 100 years.

June 6th 2003 is when my main guy started....and i have been loving everyday since
i still look forward to loggin on even though there are ALOT of whiners who always whine about everything they can possably whine about!!!
My main concern is that there's a lot of people who take this game way to serousely to the point of overreacting to everything posted or done....the reason i have been loving this game for so long is that i have don't take everything waaaay to serously and that i don't overreact to everything posted or done....it's a game where people can play a massive space sim, go exploring ( well in the beginning anyways ) and talk to people around this floating ball of molten rock in space called home
This is my first online experince so and i have to admit i didn't think it was possable for people to whine, complain and hell outright lie about things, but i guess that's the one drawback people can do these things when there's no accountablilty for that person
But anyways have fun! I have always wanted to play a game that was this open and ccp (mistakes aside) made a pretty damn good game
P.S. I KNOW some loser's are going to flame and twist this somehow so i'll just say it now "get a life, it's a game" Artika

Edited by: Gai Daigoji on 07/04/2004 09:46:22 I'm planning on posting a "reminiscences" thread similar to this one on my corporation's forums on the 1st of May: I too will be a year old on that day (and was the eleventh person to log into EVE that morning, if the "players online" was correct), although Gai isn't my original character from day one.
The game's had its ups and downs for sure, but I'm still having a great deal of fun playing EVE, and have met some great people during my time here.
Here's to another year of fun and frolics - I still think that the future is looking really promising for this game, even though we've all had some serious setbacks with the various problems the game has had. It sure doesn't resemble the game that many of us beta tested over a year ago now.
It would be nice if CCP are planning something, in some way. Although I'd rather not see another lag filled event in Yulai
Mebbe they could spawn Ark everywhere again, in belts guarded by psychotic NPCs, in memory of the fist few weeks or so of retail? Or have the gate NPC's beefed up so much that you find yourself trapped in the same system for 24 hours until the next tweak
Please note that the views expressed above are those of Gai Daigoji and not necessarily those of the JGR corporation. |

I really dont try to post here anymore, since I think the mods are for crap.
However, to edify the gullible lot,
Even if any of you *got* a Jove BS... could you fly it?
Has anyone been trained in Jove Frigate, Jove Cruiser, or Jove Battleship?
What's the most you could do? Open a trade window with somebody to show that you had it?

Personally if I was the first person to ever logg on to Eve I dont think I would want them to give me the ship for any other reason to sell.Imagine having one of 10 Jovian Battleships's (as if that would happen) you would have a few things to worry about like 1 the ammount of people looking at your ship with jealousy and envy. You wouldnt be safe for to long in empire I am sure someone would declare war just to take your nice pretty ship away in a big ball of fire.2 I would be worried about the crazy 1 of the 10 who would want to make his the only one in Eve huntin ya down and takin yer ship away once again. If I was to get one selling it would be the first thing on my mind.I would rather stick around in descretness. The less everyone knows about ya the better ya are in EvE,But that is just my opinion and like *******s er one has one!!!! No matter how big No matter how strong It always boils down to name calling !!! |

Edited by: Swift on 08/04/2004 15:26:10 Wow, I remember logging on release and literally being one of the first Amarr into the game - I looked in the newbie corp channel to find it empty except for one guy that logged in shortly after me. I had a short conversation to him about how we should enjoy this moment, because it wasn't going to last too long. An empty EVE world untouched by player hands.
And sure enough it didn't - the big bang occured and here we have it, EVE its players and the cogs of the community running the game turning away. :) Nice to think back and see the vast emptiness before the madness :P -----

hmm lets see, played in beta started in phase 4, so.. lets see, that was around late november early december of 2002 I believe. I started right around the time they switched over the beta website, and updated that. So roughly a year and 4.5 months or so...
Lord, has it really been that long...

When I loged on within 1 second of the servers going up (yes i spammed the login button) and when i got in my char was the only character in my school and on the map.
Of course the map was probably laggy but I'm pretty certain that I was one of the first 1-10 people in the game. My character was certainly the first in the school \o/

Edited by: Morbidus V on 09/04/2004 12:06:52 I am pretty sure I was the first person logged into eve (after my beta -1 days). I remember quite clearly spamming the log button and got in just as the server was coming up. Didn't see anyone else in my school either.
I have not played steady since then, but I still have the same character.
Come on everybody! Be cool and l337 and join our group of hundreds who claim to be the first person logged into eve. I promise it will make you seem filled supa uberness, and all your posts from here on in will be regarded as the words of wise, and rightly powerful forefathers.
You too can roxors and be the ultimate anti-noob. Be the first on YOUR block to tell the eve community just how much of a vet you truly are. I promise everyone will berate themselves for being such a newb in your eyes.
Maybe you managed to log in BEFORE the beginning of EVE space/time? If so, please tell us about the formation of the universe and other such questions of eve-life.
Watch this space for fantastic stories from players who were making millions mining ark before ccp even started programming!
