As it is now CCP aren't entertaining skill training for multiple alts.
I'm assuming that this is a financial decision based on the fact that many players have multiple accounts so CCP would lose (5-10%?) of their income if they offered this option free of charge.
So what about a compromise that would actually make CCP some extra income and give the players (many of us anyway) what we really want....the ability to train skills for all our alts at the same time.
As an example I paid 38.85 EUR for 3 months but I would happily pay (less would be bettter of course):
38.85 EUR per 3 months (skill train one alt at a time) 42.85 EUR per 3 months (skill train two alts at a time) 45.85 EUR per 3 months (skill train three alts at a time)
I know some people won't like the idea of paying more but it would be (should be) an optional extra so those sticking to their current subscription won't be losing anything.
I guess the other question is will the servers handle it okay as people may tend to log on and off changing alts more frequently. No idea about what servers can and can't handle.
No idea if this has ever been suggested before either or what CCP will think of it but from a business point of view they would be daft not to do some research into the idea. Boosting income by 10-20% can't be a bad thing :P
It would surely increase the longevity of the game too and people staying around longer would be another big financial gain for CCP.

3 x 38.85 = 116.55 116.55 - 45.85 = 70.70 45.85 - 38.85 = 7.00 70.70 / 7.00 = 10.1
So if a 1000 people with 3 accounts move their alts to a single account, 10,100 people would have to activate the second and third char in order for CCP to break even.
How would this be a big financial gain?

While valid, your point ignores the number of people who use more than one account at the same time.

Instead of charging real currency, CCP could charge an isk fee to allow your alts to train at say 1/3 the rate of a full toon. This preserves the benefits of second accounts, and also is an isk sink.

The math was purely to show that CCP could give us what we want and make a profit not a loss. I didn't even know how many members Eve had and wasn't proposing an actual tarrif just the idea. I'm sure CCP would set the fees higher than this in any case.
It's already available at $15 per month? so this is another full subscribtion you mean so great another 2 useless alts.
I really don't see the point of having 3 characters if you can't use them without crippling the learning skills of your main alt.
This game is brilliantly contructed in many ways and yet the main (to me anyway) flaw in the game is left unfixed.
I'm pretty new here so maybe someone can explain the logic in allowing 3 characters but not letting them all train at the same time. Surely the whole Eve experience would be better if you had 3 good skilled alts to work with, running 3 very interesting and productive lives and helping out their alts from time to time with their unique skills.
Surely this would be a better Eve?

No it doesn't. Last I heard EVE had 220,000 paid accounts. 2000 accounts cancelled to merge with 1000 accounts, leaves 217,000 accounts or 108,500 players with dual accounts. 10,100 of which, roughly 10%, who'd have to activate 2 additional characters.
But here are a few other reasons:
CCP set themselves a goal of 300k paid subscribers at the end of 2008, implementing a scheme like this would be shooting themselves in the foot.
CCP has one of the rare few MMO's that has continually climbing subscriber numbers, a useful marketing fact. Implementing this would probably cause a drop for a short period.
Any price for a second and third char will likely be close enough to the price of a full account most people will still buy the full account for the convenience of logging both in at the same time.
The 2 alts aren't useless now. It only takes a limited amount of training time or none at all to set one up for: a few extra research slots, a couple manufacturing slots, RP collecting at an agent, hauler alt, shuttle recon for camps, market browsing in other region, trader, etc.
Last: this idea has been suggested again and again for over 4 years now and hasn't been implemented yet.

I got some news for you buddy, more then half of all accounts are alts, they may be paid for in the majority by ISK, but that only means someone else is paying thier bill in money. The average 0.0 corp in my experience has approximately 4.5 alts per player. When I say 'alts' I mean seperate accounts. So in reality paying extra to train a second character on the same account is no different except that its on the same account. Basically they could restrict accounts to one character per account and prolly get greater acceptance because people already have extra accounts established rather then alts on the same account, unless they're just research point clones or cyno alts. They would lose money by offering any kind of discount, they already get the same amount for every alt as they do for your main character.
