I am no fanboi of anyones (see posting history) but I am not having this from the OP, its very easy to criticise, but as you clearly show difficult to do it well or constructively.
Your post is rude and offensive on a personal level, as opposed to a game level. You intended it to be.
Letting real EVE gamers who are very knowledgeable about the game front the show is fantastic.
Thank the lord we not got a bunch of cookie-cut mediatypes reading off autocue and having no damn clue what they are saying. The people presenting it are fine in dress and demeanour, its an internet spaceships game for god-sake.
The improvement over previous tournaments is immense (some of the early efforts were grim, alcohol is only fun for those drinking it)
All the people that have put themselves in front of the camera have done very well. Whatever you may think, things are different when you are sitting in a studio with the cameras and lights on you.
Tyrrax Thorrk does have a rather soft spoken manner (thats fine), but he is there and gives a different slant on things, he really is in the thick of it, running a team, losing expensive ships. I like what he brings to the table. I dont think its sullen teenager, i think its more nerves and actually thinking about what he says before the words just drop out of his face and the fact he may well simply be soft-spoken. The hat, its kinda fun, its not hurting anyone, anyone taking offence to that needs to consider their life values.
People looked comfortable in what they were wearing and nothing was offensive about their attire.
Commentating on the matches is rather difficult, and certainly having more things to say to fill in the gaps when nothing appears to be happening would be handy. The commentators know this, but what the hell they talk about is a different matter.
One solution i think is to actually not run the matches live. Rather show the matches AFTER they have actually taken place. This way things can be prepared more. Know its a crap boring match, then get those questions lined up, talk about something else while the tanks hold.
Maybe even interview the teams that took part, the technology has to exist, lets hear what the competitiors were thinking when involved in the match.
This moaning about how people pronounce stuff, what they look like, how they talk is somewhat depressing at one level. On another level it shows how little you got to moan about in this tournament.
And the EVETV crew is just the tip of iceberg on this one. There are hundreds of people ingame which have worked extremely hard to put up teams for this.
I was dismissive of "When Fat Kids Attack" in a previous post, as being a "comedy option". Well I seem to have been wrong, really there have been none of the idiot pranks of previous tournaments so far and all competitors seem to be determined to do themselves proud.
Well done all involved in bringing us this great tournament. -
