Well, as long the new players are intelligent and avoid Jita like a plague, it should be all good! Unfornately I have my doubts about their intelligence. But hey. You can only put the requirements so and so high for the humans as a race.

Steam is just an awful application, by all means use it to hook newbies but please, please CCP don't make this a mandatory part of the install. If you do it will bite you in the ass big time.

They have no reason to make EVE Steam-only, Steam is just being used as an advertisement tool. (a very powerful one at that, though I doubt how many HL2/CS/etc players have an interest in extremely complex internet spaceship games, but I guess time will tell)
