Now i think this one was discussed on the general section, and ccp apparently said they would fix it but what i wanna know is, is this fix gonna be in the 1.1 patch and if yes, can we have a rough estimate at when it's gonna be released? (yes yes i know, prolly 'soonÖ' )
For the ones that do not know what it is, it is where if (even if u perfect build skills) u build lots of a single item, u get a sort of waste figure and u end up using more materials then is listed on the bpo.
EXAMPLE: u have an item and the bpo says with perfect buildskills u need 10 pyer and 10 trit to build it, and this is true if u build only 1, but if u build like a 1000, the figure could be 10010 pyer and 10010 trit (u use up more materials then is listed on the bpo)
This isn't that bad with minerals, but if u get into production with T2 parts, it is pretty bad cuz some of the advanced materials to build T2 parts are pretty expensive (ferrogel, fermionic condensates anyone?) _______________________________________________________ CCP, let us pay the online shop with Direct Debit!!!

Did you miss the part where it says quantities may vary by .5 per item?

Yeah but wasn't it supposed to be changed so it would be better to make more runs at once then it is now?
atm for instane with sustained shield emitters, u can build 4 at a time and not lose anything, then just do a batch of say a 1000 at once, i think ccp is going to change that so it would make more sense to do a 1000 run then to do a 4? Or did i get that wrong?
Anyways i was just curious at when this will be changed, cuz i'm planning on doing a large number of runs and was wondering if it was worth the wait till the patch. _______________________________________________________ CCP, let us pay the online shop with Direct Debit!!!

See blog and discussion here and also another discussion here. We are currently looking into solutions for the waste and research mechanic as a whole which will take a little longer to process and implement but will be better than applying smaller band aid fixes. Nothing will change in trinity 1.1 (our next patch) with this but we do want to make better fixes and UI changes in patches to come after that. It is annoying especially with construction components due to their high number of production runs and materials cost I totally agree. We will look to make various changes to help ease the annoyances like this and avoid having to go all the way to the accept quote stage to get a materials quote if possible.

While it's mildly annoying, it's probably a bit more frustrating that the actions I'm taking to fix the issue (ME research) are pretty much made redundant by the future fix anyway :/
Meh, what can you do I spose

So why was it broken in the first place if we have to wait even longer for a fix to it? Before trinity the rounding of manufacturing cost, while not optimal, at least wasn't broken in that small batches are more efficient than large ones

I put in 90 batches of 27,000 Componets every month, if you think building 1000 or 2000 sucks try 2.7mil componets a month. -----------------------------------------------

Thnx for the answer atleast.
Guess i'm stuck with either building them in small batches at a time or taking my losses for now then. _______________________________________________________ CCP, let us pay the online shop with Direct Debit!!!

I've been building a spreadsheet to calculate my mineral uses in production, keep track of inventory, compare costs and profits, etc.
Then today I realized that the spreadsheet and my actual hanger were not in agreement any longer--off by a miscellaneous amount of minerals, but never a whole lot. Now I've figured out it's that "on multiple batches, amounts may differ by up to 0.5 units per batch".
Well, this is annoying, since I want to strategize my building using my spreadsheet. But I can't do that if I don't have a reliable inventory! And with this--

So, you're saying there is no way to show me the numbers, unrounded, so I can plug them in properly and know how many material's I'll be using? Please say there's some way for me to find these unrounded numbers, plug them in, and apply a (floor or ceiling) function after multiplying the decimal amounts by the number of batches I need to build...

Hehe it took forever for ccp to fix Fast Talk and I am hoping it takes just as long for mass production wastage cause I only build for myself and so currently have no wastage with Perfect PE and well researched bpc's...they change it and boom I am going to have wastage at lower quantity levels..

Found my competition I think I get your components through other sources though.
I have taken to adding the materials up onto my sheet and dividing. For example. If I have the materials for 4000 components, and I can only build 3995 with those materials, I divide the total / 3995 to get the "pre rounded number". It works for excel decently. _____________________________________

Just use basic manufacturing formula and you'll get the fractions. It took me longer to sort out the rounding formulas in excel to get spreadsheets to work properly. Basic manufacturing formulas give out correct numbers (incl decimals)
