What happens when you're selected for the lottery, but your agent has encountered a problem?
Like lets say..
9GMT (Mr nStuff goes to bed) 10GMT (Mr nStuff's agent encounters a problem) 15GMT (Lottery takes place) 18GMT (Mr nStuff's wakes up) 20GMT (Mr nStuff does mission for R&D agent)
With this schedule. Is it possible I will never ever get any blueprint offers? Because my agent is currently waiting for help, is it possible the lottery passes me up?
Even if I may have won the lottery, do I get disregarded because my agent is currently waiting for me to fix a problem?
If this is the case, i'm talking to you devs.. If this is the case. Then you guys owe me something.
Ok thanks,
5 R&D Agents, 10months, Zero BPO Offers.. Onboard navigational [Planetary Avoidance] computer.
My account will be suspended at the end of the current play period. Expires on 19. September 2004 |

From what I gather, the agent will still offer you prints if you have a mission waiting for you.

I've received a BP from the lottery whilst my agent had a problem[1] so don't worry about it.

thats correct. when i got my first bpo i was responding to an eve mail saying my agent needed help. when i arrived she told me to get her something and when i completed the mission i got another eve mail right away saying she had wonderful news.

What happens if you don't bother doing the missions at all like me. I have a research agent but i never get to see her. I will still get a mail saying i have wonderful news or i am dreaming here

The way I understand it, if you have a mission that you haven't done and are offered a bp before you do it that bp is put on 'hold' until you've finished the mission. In other words, you can never have more than one active eve mail from an agent, if he eve mailed you about a mission he won't eve mail you or talk to you about a bp offer until you've finished it.

I stopped doing missions for my agent ages ago, and still a few weeks ago I got a bp at around 4.5k points .

So you were evemailed an offer. Even though you never took care of the last problem encounter months ago? |

How do you know when you're offered a blueprint?
I'll take anything just to know I'm hated by my agents and not completely ignored.

yep, then I picked up my bp, started the research going again and left. I haven't been back since.

I never do missions for my R&D agent and I have received a bpo. Why bother? Do the points really help? Do I really need to pay millions for science graduates when I can just wait a couple more days, and still get a bp offer? I'm sure the missions speed up the process, but I'm a patient man, and I have loads more fun doing other things and forgetting about that particular agent until she has something for me.

Taking that argument to its logical extreme, it's a waste of time to have any R/D project with more than *one* RP point; the one that wins the lottery. All of the others are waste paper.
Now, if only we could tell in advance which particular RP point was the one we needed .... so, yeah, doing missions marginally improves your chances of success. Probably not by enoough to justify paying for science grads.
