POS bowling is an example of a tactic that was so heinous the EvE game mechanics had to be changed to prevent it. Presently, some folks are arguing to change mechanics to protect high-sec miners.
What are some other large-scale tactics that caused rule changes?
Leave out nerfing a gun or two on a specific ship, I'm talking larger scale strategies or specific techniques. Unless you really want to rehash ECM and Nos nerfs...
And bonus points if you correctly give props to the originator. __________________________________________________

presently people are realizing that you can die even in 1.0 systems when you fly an untanked mining ship and smile when a group of non mining cruisers warp in on you Trashed sig, Shark was here |

Edited by: Tamia Clant on 04/03/2008 15:00:19 Edited by: Tamia Clant on 04/03/2008 14:59:31 A corp called Zombie I believe, attacked Yulai (a 1.0 system) with several battleships, most of them fitting remote repairers and literally tanked CONCORD killing a lot of player and CONCORD ships. In response, CCP made remote reppers get flagged if helping someone criminally flagged. Surviving CONCORD after initiating aggresion was also declared an exploit.
m0o was also responsible for the addition of low-sec gate sentry guns I believe.

NPC's used to spawn at predictable spots in belts (this is 2003-2004 time btw).
NPC's used to chain (re-spawning speed increased and ept increasing for every time you killed part of the spawn).
Some people combined these two and put smartbombing BS at spawnpoints, to get afk isk.
CCP nuked some accounts, and changed both chaining and spawning. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A recent change and it was targeted @ specific ships. BUT I laughed but to those that used this exploit I have to give credit for having some serious balls and putting there ISK where the mouth was so to speak.
The Black OPS ganking people in highsec and then jumping out before Concord killed them.
Result is now you can't jump when you are flagged.

This is one of my favorite exploits ever... I kind of wish they left it in. I mean, you paid a kazillion isk for the ship and if you screw up your cyno or wait too long you get shot by concord. and its not like people can't shoot back at them!

Gatecamps -> everyone made insta-warp bookmarks -> Warp-to-0 option, and bookmarks deleted.
Drone swarms -> lag -> changes to Drone Interfacing and numbers of drones ships can launch.
People increasing their DPS to godly by filling low slots with damage enhancer modules -> stacking penalties and ship rebalances.
Multiple MWD's on ships, or oversized MWD's, for 20 k/s speeds -> MWD nerf and no MWD's in mission deadspaces.
Doing missions for Concord agents resulted in faction with all empires and people with +10.0 sec standing -> Concord agents nerfed, sec standings cut to half, overhaul of agent system and, and limits on getting sec from ratting.
Alt-itis and trial account over-use -> Nerfs to what ships trial accounts can fly, as well as how they can transfer ISK's.

Pre-castor, the only way to sell items off-market was to create courier missions (or direct trade). There was also no way to see the contents of a courier mission packet. Adding one and one, TLBC members "sold" battleships to people via courier missions, whereas in fact the battleship was anything larger than 5000 cubic metres (biggest cargohold at the time). People accepted the courier mission, paid the 150M collateral, and ended up with an undeliverable package containing an indy or so.
And that's when escrow was born.

I thought that was Space Invaders? Yulai was the Jita of old (for reference). Hence my point anyway, that general ass-hattery continuing over a long period inevitably leads to a nerf - and then of course, I know who'll be coming whinging to the forums (hint: not the miners).

I think the last day of the beta got Navy ships replaced with concord given there lol damage and tanks making it easy for 1-2 ships to kill people in high sec with no fear.
I loved that day 20+ amarr battleships in my gang on the way to pator blowing every thing up that moved and was not amarr what a great day that was. Death is great rember where all dying to get there. |

The missile nerf.
In the past u could with above dual MWD raven, also 1 shot kill almost anything cruiser sized and below cuz there was no explosion radius and velocity on missiles, the only survivability was speed cuz if the cm's or torps caught up with u... pop... _______________________________________________________ CCP, let us pay the online shop with Direct Debit!!!

I can't believe noone has mentioned this...
The uber nos myrm solo WTFPWN mobile, My second ever kill was when I was less than two months old flying a nos myrm in molden heath lowsec. Dude in a 200m isk TII fitted zealot jumps me in my myrm, guess he didn't expect me to know how to fit it or what a warpscram did. Poor bastard lost his zealot to a guy in a ship that cost roughly 25% as much.
then they nerfed drones with that stupid bandwith BS and nos, well nos needed it.
... Why do I PvP? Because I love the feeling I get when I see the pretty lights and know that someone somewhere is screaming incoherently at their computer screen. |

- Nano ships (led to the bonusses of nanofiber being split among the now nerfed nanofiber, overdrives and inertial stabilizers) - Mothership ganking in low sec (led to the heavy interdictor and a script that allows for tackling ships immune to normal scrambling) - NOS domis - loot/can theft (led to thief flagging. It used to be unpenalized) - Logoffski (led to a change in the behavior of ships when losing connection and the tying of this behavior to the pressence of an agression timer)
