High sec gate campers are already pretty selective about their targets being worth their time and trouble; they usually don't bother if the payout is going to be a paltry few million. They wait for the guy that comes through with a faction fit ship, or an indy loaded with goodies and worth hundreds of millions, if they're smart. I've sat right next to gate campers with a less attractive indy (15 mil cargo), got scanned, and then ignored, because I wasn't worth the effort. Just making them subtract the cost of their own ships might convince them to let a few of the least of those choice targets through, but most would still be more than worth the loss. And before you say I've obviously never gate camped, I did, just recently, on an alt, after the excellent post someone made on the topic. I wanted to see how accurate that write-up was for myself, and how to apply what was said in defense. I'd never make a 'career' out of it, but one doesn't need to be a genius to figure the economics out, and that the insurance would be a drop in the bucket to the smart ones.

It became such a well known "event" that I was interviewed by Eve guardian, ISD and live on Eve underground radio and the post concerning it was one of the largest single threads ever on the forums. I was however placed on a final warning for "griefing". How is this any differant to what I did? Does that mean I can now return to randomly killing a hundred or so people in jita every night via suicide gangks? An answer please... "Men are going to die... and i'm going to kill them"

Look for Goons, taunt, etc, etc Wait for the attack, then roll on the floor laughing hysterically as you tank the damage and they get Concorded. I encourage the miners of EVE to spend part of their time in disguised mining barges full equipped for tanking so that some Goons will feel the Concord pain!

Yes, they have destroyed a lot of ships but it has cost them a lot. Even with insurance they aren't making money on this deal when you take into account the cost of insurance and the mods on the ships. The most important thing they are losing is respect.
