A couple corp mates and I were kicking around this idea for awhile and I thought it sufficiently an interesting enough idea to post here for you dev types.
We were talking about the basic philisophical ideas between the races. Gallente are the gank masters able to throw out more DPS than any other race and Amarr were the tank masters.
So we started talking about ship bonuses and came to an inconsistancy. The Amarr gets resistance bonuses to some of their ships while the Gallente gets the repair bonuses and to us it makes sense to perhaps switch those. Make the Hyperions and Myrmidons into resistance tankers while giving Amarr the repairing bonuses.
Now sit down and let me explain the logic behind it. Yeah there actually is some logic in this. Amarr have massive cap reserves as compared to other races which means they can fit armor repairers with this bonus and use them more effectivly than the Gallente can. This would make Amarr ships into a massive beast of tanking.
At the same time let us look at the Gallente. Their cap stores do not compare to Amarr and blasters suck down cap like Paris Hilton at a male strip club. Add on the armor reps and this forces you to stuff your mid slots and cargo space with cap charges limiting your ability to carry ammo, which the Amarr don't need to do. So what this would do is allow more resistance tanking with the Gallente and possibly duratanking allowing them to conserve their cap for their blasters and whatever they put on their mid slots (sensor damps anyone?) that would normaly have a cap charger with it.
I think it would be a win-win for both races. I know this would change some very fundamental things in this game but it just makes sense to me. Feedback is of course always appreciated. ------------------------------------------- www.eve-pirate.com original author and goat molestor.

edit: and resistance tanks are better than armor repair bonused. especially in fleet pvp.

Your suggestions are weird. You say:
Amarr should be tank masters and gallente should be gank masters. So, lets give Amarr the poorer tanking bonus and gallente - the better tanking bonus. So that Gallente are gank masters, tank masters, uber in every field, and Amarr are more useless then ever. Not many people fly Amarr anyway so who would care?
You also say;
Amarr have better cap and blasters eat a lot of cap, so Gallente should get bonuses allowing them to use less cap.
Brilliant! Lasers need twice as much cap as blasters. Hyperion Abaddon Hyperion: 7200 cap Abaddon: 6375 cap, and no bonus to laser cap use Dominix: 5000 cap, and it doesnt need to use guns at all to be efficient Armageddon: 5312 cap, oh, it means more, and only 7 lasers to sustain. OMG Amarr have so much more cap, Gallente need more to balance this!

also missing the point that amarr need a noncapdependant tank bonus due to the cap drain of lasers (as already stated), and that giving gallente blaster/droneboats a tank bonus that wasn't dependant on active tanking would be madness, as the point is they cannot tank/gank at same time, but are best at both when fully setup for it

If gallente are gank master and amarr tank master why the amarr explode each time when a gallente come in close range ?
Amarr should tank easly a gallente ship may be 2 ! And with the time, the gallente without tank should die with our overpowered laser at 5 dmg each 10 sec.
