relatively new player...switched to Eve from another MMORPG, finds myself in the dismal situation of playing an mmorpg without actually "knowing" anyone who plays.
ingame friends are fine, but sometimes it's nice to venture out into 0.0 RL from time to time.
any NYC area groups of folks ever meet for drinks/misc eve stuff.

we used to have regular meet ups but have been slacking. If you would like to set a date go ahead and people will likely attend. Just make it at a good bar. We used to have it at croxley ales beer garden in the east village

heartland brewery kinda sucks... never heard of fat cats... but willing to venture.
we looking for a place that has wiFi or just alcohol ?

Fat Cats is a college hangout really . . . It's downstairs, has pool tables / ping pong tables / et cetera and a band on weekend nights (their sound system is not so good) and is generally packed.
Heartland Brewery is a bit overrated IMO. (The Coffee Cup or whatever it's called almost next door is MUCH better)
The Bar Bat and The W (more upscale but the ladies are DEFINATELY worth the price of admission) would be my picks.
