Hi all,
A friend and I are starting up and we are working on mining/hauling to get going. We usually form a 2 man fleet and he does the mining while I do the hauling. Is there a way he can transfer directly into my cargo hold? I'm flying an Iterion(sp?) III and he is in the Caldari mining cruiser. Right now we are using a jettison cargohold to do the transfer.

Nope. Jetcans is the way to go. _______ We are Ushra'Khan. We come for our people. |

If you're in 0.8 or above, jetcans are your only option. You could also try to anchor a GSC in 0.7 systems or under, which makes it "safer", but its really darned unwieldy. Right now its hard as <censored> to even find a place in some belts, due to the saturation of available space, since a GSC can't be anchored within a certain distance of existing ones.
But having done a fair amount of mining while having a corpmate to haul, I find that most of the can-flipping kiddies leave you alone if you're set up like that. They prefer the lowly lone miners, who are more certain to not be able to fight back. There's always exceptions, of course.

Well its the can flipping that has me wondering. That being said its only a few hundred m3 of ore in the jetcan at a time so we are not worried about it all that much. My buddy has the Mining Foreman skill that came with it so I have a miner on my high spot.
Thanks for the reponses :)

Best bet is to leave nothing in the can but a bookmark. If they come close pull it and pop the can.
Secure cans have the advantage of passwords, allowing you to prevent certain borderline exploits triggering agro

If you and your alt are in the same player corp, you can reduce the risk of can flipping by having the hauler tractor it as soon as it warps in(make it wait until the miner jetisons a new can though because there is a time constraint on that). For this the can may not be yellow though. I am not sure if it also works if you are in the same gang. |
