What is the best way for a independent player/small team to get mining in 0.0 space ( - flying figates/cruisers )
I took a little wander through 0.0 last night and found ways in without gate camps - so getting some cruisers/frigates in would be no problem. Jumping from belt to belt would be ok (avaoiding any big NPC spawns) ... however, how can I transport large quantities of ore about. IF getting an indy past a gate camp is not really possible - what are the other options ?
I would be interested to hear from people with experience of ninja-mining.

Don't bother trying to sneak into Stain - you can find better ore in Empire
Ninja-mine near a station with refinery, refine your ore, and use frigates to carry the mega/zyd out.

Unless your ninja mining don't bother the 0.0 spawns will make mincemeat of cruisers and frigs in seconds.
Most of the time the more ships in the belt the bigger the spawn.
Try it and see first but use crap gear and expect to lose it to all manner of rats pc and npc.
As regards refining go to the querious region or around there and mine unless you are at bad standing with the station owners they will allow you to dock and use the refineres. " Stay Frosty "

Best place I know of to mine 0.0 was KBP7-G and it's surrounding systems. It's 2 jumps from empire stations and *had* up to Dark Ochre. Been a while since I mined solo in 0.0, but there used to be hidden belts in KBP7-G that NPC's couldn't spawn at (don't know if these mirror belts still exist). And the NPC's are easily handled by a decent equipped cruiser or two.
The way to find the mirror belts (not all belts are/were mirrored), you warp to a belt and go the opposite direction until you can't see the belt anymore and then in front of you it's mirror appears. No NPC's spawn here...if it's still in-game.
But KBP7-G had decent PC pirate traffic also...nothing is without it's risk.

well buzzy... how exactly did you get frigs or cruisers in without using jump gates?
And if you can do that why not just do the same thing with the hauler?
... k well disregarding your special way to get into places without jump gates.....
all good minning (of ark, bist, spod) is in an allience of some kind.
You can: a. buy a pass from an alliance (find out which ones you wanna try to go to and talk with people in charge)
b. not buy a pass, sneak in which is a little bit more difficult, but obviously less expensive. If doing so, don't take anything you cant afford to replace and insure maximum. As well if you are going in a group be aware that your making a blob on the map that all allience members can see (and pirates as well) so always keep an eye out for that. It is best probably to not go in a group more then 4. (3 miners one hauler) unless you think you can take on whomever is going to try to stop you.
when you want to get back out once again, it is best to do it late at night or early in the morning on a weekday, and to always scout ahead for your hauler. Be very causious.
p.s. thats the best i can answer your question without you telling me how you can get in (and somehow not out) of aliance space (unless you mean clone jumping..).

Hmm... NPC spawn now in hidden belts...Quite fast indeed...
If you want to mine in small groups, try to get at least 2 cruisers for defense and a hauler to put some giant secure containers anchored to a safe point. This will allow you to put some mid-space container you can warp to when no hauler is avalaible. Then, hauler just have to move to the giants and get the ore.
Before doing that, however, you will have to do some scouting for a few days in a frigate with a survey scanner in order to find out whose genereally in the systems, what ore can be found, what quantity, what NPCs and the spawn sizes...
Try to avoid the old belt-rape...If you let some roids of the best ores with something like 500 units in each roid, they will respawn faster and you won't loose them...
Try to always use a survey scanner when mining in 0.0 Hight-end ores are precious...Depleting them also deplets your income... (\_/) (O.o) (> <)=Oveur (proof) "Jumping 50 systems I can like, have sex 150 times during that period" |

You can mine without NPCs coming. You just have to know how. Convo me in game, and I'll explain.

Interesting. I scouted 0.0 last night too. I went in with a shuttle just to check who's in there. Well I only went to jumps deep into 0.0 systems and had no trouble at all. I will go back each night for a few nights to check who's on there and probably will go deeper because I have'nt seen any of that really expensive ores in the 0.0 systems near empire borders. Well, If your in an alliance and you see me...please dont kill me. my cargo hold in a Pun is small and I will never be able to take a boatload of ores. Live and let live and give others a chance. Otherwise I'll have to build a corp and take your airspace in a few months, hehe.

Interesting ore is in deep 0.0 You won't find bistot and crokite nearby empire space (unless it's the cargohold of somebody else ) (\_/) (O.o) (> <)=Oveur (proof) "Jumping 50 systems I can like, have sex 150 times during that period" |

lol amazing that there are still hidding belts...
when oh when will they finally fix the damn grid!!
If you wanna mine 0.0...
Then ninja mine it. If you want to strip mine your gonna need a couple battleships backing up for protection. ninjamining is the best way, its a little slower but you still get the good ore..
judge for yourself if its worth it or not.
From my point of view...mining 0.0, ninja or otherwise, is just way to big of a hassle without player owned structures. You either end up spending houres of boring ninjamining for a reward that seem total moot vs the effort...or end up having to split the cash among somany people and having to fly such great distance with your industrial ships that all in all it hardly seems worth your time...
of course, thats pretty much my opinion on any form of mining, but thats just me ;)
Originally by: cashman It's time for Eris to get a clue. CCP should make a statement about this.
It's the exact same things as what Zombie did, you may not attack in "safe-areas" (empire/within sentry range) without loosing your ship.
