Edited by: Arthur Frayn on 06/03/2008 00:38:15 I'm currently in Amarr space running level 4s with a corpmate who tanks in a Nighthawk, so tanking ability is a low priority for me. My ultimate goal is to get into a Nightmare at a later date. Since I'm looking for extreme DPS for Sanshas and Blood Raider missions, is the Harbinger a good way to go?
I already fly an Astarte which works well, hitting for 600 dps or so with T2 medium rails. Since I have BC at lvl 5, I checked the kind of DPS I'd get with medium energy turret at lvl 4 which also comes to about 600 dps with drones included.
Since I'd be hitting npc's that are weak against EM, would the Harbinger make a cheap and effective stepping stone towards Amarr battleships?

While yes...
remember the cap stability... if you can get around that, you are probably good
And its a bit slow for my tastes >.> Ive noticed that 99.9% of people on these forums have a signature. If you are one of the 0.1% that doesnot have a sig, copy this into your sig, and display your defiance towards people with sigs. |

With some EFT tweaking, it won't be so difficult. a few cap rechargers, a cap power relay and even CCCs and it's cap stable. As for speed, I'd fit an afterburner like I have on my Astarte.
Here's the next question: should I fit beams for the range? I have no need to supertank the ship like I said before - a single rep and two hardeners will do. The Harb has enough spare low slots to fit a reactor control for this as well.

If you can, use t2 pulse. gives the option for insane shortrange or very nice longranged. (AN MF M, or scorch M) Ive noticed that 99.9% of people on these forums have a signature. Yes to beams for missions; t2 pulses with scorch are another option, however they don't quite have enough range on them for my taste, topping out around 30k. Being able to switch to microwave and hit pretty well out to 45k with med named beams has been very helpful on some missions -- and if you're planning on flying amarr missions, the high percentage of EM damage won't kill you either.

T2 guns + harb = win.
T1 guns + harb = (win-70%)
Scorch makes a harbinger sexy. AN MF is great for opening shield tanks, or when someone closes. But being able to exploit optimal w/ scorch is really the closer for team harb.
