My agent is based in my starting system, as it happens I jumped out of it on day 1 as soon as I undocked and haven't been there since.
Is there any chance I can get another agent closer to my current base of operations (in another empire) or do I have to go back home, do some missions for that agent and then hope I get an agent closer to my usual constellation?

You have to go back home, sorry.
40 jumps is nothing, get used to it, a Level 2 Agent will hand out 40-50 jump missions anyway (20 jump return trip).

*sigh*
cheers for the info.
Actually I was reigning Jump King in SFC and so 40 jumps is a twice-a-day event or so... I just can't be bothered to do it to go and get a mission to move tourists or something similar in my omen... I wonder if this is where I should create an ALT and let that one step in?

You don't have to drive your cruiser all the time. :)
Get a frigate with 3 medslots and 3 loslots (Tristan for Gallente). Install 3 overdrive injectors and 3 afterburners.
approx. 300k investment to triple your shipspeed or more.
Running agent missions is hell in a "standard" ship, but if you deck it out for speed, it can be fun. NPC gate pirates? Not a problem. At 910 m/s, you leave em' in the dust. With accel control 2 and Nav 3, my Tristan could to 910. With AC3, it can now do 1039 m/s. Jumps go FAST in that ship, as you're at the gate in seconds even if you warp in 30 km out. ---------------- Blue Screen of Death CEO Exodus Enterprises |

I feel naked without my cruiser :p
And I have a named MWD so I reach 1000 m/s easily without sacrificing any hull or armor

BSOD, get yourself some arcjets. My tris got up to 1300+ with 2AJ's an AB, and the usual array. Makes agent runs a walk in the park. Although level 2 agents sometimes give jobs that won't fit in a tris cargohold, and I'm sure level 3 jobs will be worse. .

Heh. Arcjets not really worth the money, since 1039 M/s is more than fast enough for me for the time being.
May switch to a cruiser with MWD soon, but cruisers can't corner. :) They're turn even slower than an Iteron MkII. (Although maybe a higher end cruiser is better than the Exeq I've been borrowing. Getting a Vexor soon.) ---------------- Blue Screen of Death CEO Exodus Enterprises |

You don't need to do missions to get new agents. I have three agents without doing a single mission: the new two contacted me by e-mail when I docked at their stations. Both Lvl 1. I finally did a mission for the 3rd one (sort of): she's got good standing too. She wanted 250 Pyrite. Had that and more already onboard. Easy 5k+ for minerals worth 1K at standard prices. It's the only mission I've done so far though.

Georg: As far as anyone can tell, the "random mail from an agent" system didn't actually start working until 1077. (FYI, this thread was started before 1077) ---------------- Blue Screen of Death CEO Exodus Enterprises |

I usualy do missions in my rifter that has a top of around 1000m/s. But I do have my Probe handy for when I get a mission that needs more cargo hold room. Have had them up to 500 space needed. (From lvl3 agent)
And yes I like those mineral missions best. 20k for 1k Pyrite is nice. :) I have had 4 in a row once, depleted my small supply of pyrite!
