Occasionally I get a strange UI flicker. Nothing else looks corrupt, just windows (all with the options to minimise/fix: chat, fleet, overview, target info etc) start flickering quickly. I can't take a screenshot cause it happens too fast so all screenies look normal. Changing textures and detail levels makes it stop for few seconds, and then it just starts again.
Sometimes I don't get it for days, sometimes I get it after few hours of play, but it also happened that I turn comp on, log in to eve and get it before I even managed to undock (overall under 5 minutes from turning the comp on).
Restarting the client usually fixes it, but when it happens at bad time, it is not that easy to jut restart.

What Windows are you running, what EVE-client (premium or classic) and what videocard do you use?
Basics is to install latest driver, or go back to the driver submitted with your videocard cd and work onwards from there.

XP, Premium, Radeon X1950. I had latest original drivers installed, uninstalled and tried switching to latest non-original drivers with no change in the flicker.

Exact same problem here. To almost unplayable. Sometimes somehow client launches with no flickering at all, and lasts for whole game session. But now almost 100% of launches will result in flickering in a first seconds. XP, Premium, X1900XT.
But at least I know a reason in my case. My videocard is dying on me. Besides EVE UI flickering I have some flickering dots like a stuck pixels and sometimes some mesh vertices going crazy too.
After some reading I think that whole X19xx line is a failure, considering all the problems users have in different games. Choosing some decent Nvidia card now.

I'm having the same problem, running on vista with a geforce 7900gs.
Firs i thought it was because i played windowed but when i'm playing full screen it takes about half an hour before it starts, in windowed mode it starts sooner.
It's annoying because for a few seconds you're a sitting duck...

That's bad. Until videocard replacement and after some reading I found a temporary solution: downclocked GPU and video memory for about 20%. 20% less perfomance (which is not so critical for EVE) and no UI flickering.

From asking around, and from the fact that downclocking helps, it seems it is actually videocard overheating and making artefacts. I'll check the temperature today, and if it is too high, I'll try to clean the fan and cooler from all the dust and try again. If it improves, it will need only a new cooler to fix it.
So, expect further updates from me.

Well, with some playing around, I found the culprit: video card memory is overheating. I downclocked it by 10%, opened comp case and moved it to a more ventilated area, cleaned the coolers and fans and left GPU alone. No problems at all.
So, instead of a new cooler, I bought passive self-adhesive coolers from DIY electronic store.

Hi all,
I had the same problem (Ui Flicker/lightening flash) i run 2 X 7950GT OC SLi running on Vista 32bit, this problem was driving me mad but i sorted it with some painful web roaming look up a beta drivers on the nvidia http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us cut and paste link if it dont work!,-on the Nvidia site look under (other drivers) - (BETA & ARCHIVED DRIVERS) look up your OS and gfx card download bingo sorted.
Make sure you have removed your old drivers before downloading new ones also "turn of antivirus when updateing drivers dont forget".
