Seeing the immense demand there is for these items (fermionic condensates, ferrogel, etcetera), it has surely peaked my interest. I have a couple questions about them.
What are they used for? T2 Production? That's really my only guess. How are they made? I'm sure it involves a POS which is why I posted it in this forum. I've never operated a POS before, but I've been around a ton. Is it skill intensive to be able to produce them and operate a POS to do so?
I'm a complete newb to this aspect of Eve, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Quote: it only costs 89,000 ISK to buy the processed materials whereas the 2200 units of phenolic composites it produces is valued at 992k.
Don't forget the fuel costs of the POS itself. It takes about 200mil to fuel a Large POS every month.

*Edit* After doing some reading, for a one man effort, would it be viable to just buy all the processed materials and then just plug it into a POS to make advanced materials? For Phenolic composites, it only costs 89,000 ISK to buy the processed materials whereas the 2200 units of phenolic composites it produces is valued at 992k.
Moon mins and reaction prices fluctuate wildly. If you've found something where you can make a profit buying the ingredients then reacting it go for it but dont' expect it to be a cash cow forever. POSs are not skill intensive at all. In fact for almost everything the only thing you need is anchoring 1. And if you have good npc state corp standing you can anchor it in high sec and avoid the unpleasantness of low/null sec. But it does take fuel and for most reactions you'll need at least a medium tower.

89k per hour sounds a bit too low for prices. I know that vanadium halfinate itself will cost you about 200k per hour.

Edited by: Admiral Nova on 07/03/2008 02:43:29 Almost all of the cost in these is in the fuel for POS's and the time/effort to fuel them etc.
Eg, Vanadium sells at the moment for 930isk/u, but a small faction POS with soverignty costs about 780isk/u to produce it. So you're spending alot of fuel and time emptying silos hauling fuel for not alot of gain. With reaction POS's alot of people have to empty silos every day, and the large towers are costing around 350k/hr to run.
Also 89k for the materials for Phenolic Composits ? I don't think so, it would cost at least 468k if you were mining them yourself, using faction towers with sov. Add 350k fuel costs = 818k and then you say sells for 992k. (remember you will require 100 / hr of each of the 3 intermediates)
Yep, it makes a profit just like anything else that requires time and effort.
When it comes to moon mining at the moment there are 2 moon minerals that make a bucket load, Dysprosium and Promethium. Some regions have 20+ of these moons, and they're making 500m-1b isk/week. I think at the moment technetium is the next best and that makes about 60m/week (was 40m/week not too long ago).
Other than that you need large towers and lots of logistics to perform the reactions.
